Is this a scam? - [email protected]

Hello,

I'm selling some items on craigslist and on one of them someone texted me from a Nevada number saying that they are buying it for their sister and that they will give me an extra 100$ and pay thru paypal. Now, I have never trusted any "buyer" that is not local. I tried searching his email and phone number and nothing shows up, neither here or over google.

Can someone please let me know if they have seen this before?

Yes it is a scam.

Why would a buyer from Nevada be searching your Craigslist listing.

Only scammers offer extra money. The fake sister is the scammer himself.

Please post the actual text and the phone number used.

The scammer wants to send you a fake paypal payment using a spoofed paypal email address. Depending on what you are selling he is either trying to steal your money or property. This same scam works with fake checks.
