hi all, thanks for helping , keep on doing it,
just received this for selling my bike

[email protected] Added email address (BW)

I'm interested in buying. how long have you owned it?? what's your actual price for it?

Thanks for getting back to me, I am happy with the condition and the price. I will be paying directly to your PayPal. I'm currently working overseas in the Mining Outskirts of Bosnia with my Company resources so I wont be able to come and do things personally,But I'll make sure that all costs will be fully covered by me and I will arrange for the pick up and document changes. I have a Courier agent that handles this all the time. I'll add the 4.9% paypal surcharge to the total amount I'm paying you. If you could just send me a paypal payment invoice or create an account at http://www.paypal.com if you don't already have one. I will make a confirmed pick up arrangement with my Courier shipping agent who will be coming over for pick up once you receive full payment into your PayPal account.

Please can you provide me with the following information:

Name:
PayPal Email address:
Cell Phone No:
Total Amount:

As soon as you get back to me with the info I will make the payment and instruct my agent to handle all documents and pick up. Excited to be dealing with you.

Cheers.

^^Thank you for the update. Yes, it is a scam. No one will come pick up the bike. The scammer will use a spoofed Paypal email address and send you a fake payment. He then will have you pay his mover/shipper/courier via Moneygram or Western Union. The mover/shipper/courier is the scammer himself.

What was the email address the scammer used?

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

first of all, it will not be a real PayPal transaction. It will be a fraud (made up) paypal email the scammer sends you. (this is what BW is telling you).

Secondly, paypal does not guarantee transactions made outside of eBay. If your original transaction does go through, then the scammer claims that you never shipped the bike or it arrived in a damaged state, and the scammer gets his money back. You are left with no bike and no money. or it could be made with a compromised paypal account. Either way, you get zero and lose the item in the process.

Deal only locally when selling items like this, and deal in cash only. It simplifies your life greatly. Do not meet people at your home ( if they are thieves, you invite them to steal it). Meet them close to your home, but not at it.

Ignore him. Don't tell him that you sell only locally, or only for cash. Don't tell him anything. If he's already sent the fake PayPal message, he'll send you all sorts of threats for stealing his money; they're false. Ignore him and he'll eventually give up.

remember, he is insisting on trying to scam you, nothing else. He could care less about the purchase of the item. Its Christmas time for scammers, too.... they need all the money they can get so they can give it out to all of their dying moms, dads, other relatives, hospital bills, customs fees, pet insurance(s), and all of the other scams they operate....
