Just had the following come through after I posted an ad for a Pool Table.

Within a few hours, I got a text from GavinC

When I tried to view contact info, nothing came up (FIRST bad SIGN)

When I tried to call the number, not a real number. (SECOND BAD SIGN)

The text read as follows.

"Just see this listing on gumtree, Is it still available? what's your firm price? Kindly reply me direct to my email: [email protected]"

After replying, this is what the scammer came back with via email.

I just want to inform you that i have just completed the payment and i hope you must have been notified in your email about the payment i made through PayPal, you can check your INBOX/SPAM e-mail for confirmation of payment, I have just make the payment of $2,100...I have decided to add the amount of $600 which i paid through paypal, So please i will like you to help me wire the sum of $500 to my agent via western union so he can be able to come for the pick up and also paypal said they won't release the funds until they get the western union information from you due to the fact that i emailed them about the excess payment i made.i will need you to send the $500 to my pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be done from the post office,or online at http://www.westernunion.com) as they usually have a western union agent there) , i added extra $100 to cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that $50-70 but just to be sure i added $100, Here is my pick up agent Headquarter info needed to get the money sent through western union money transfer

After telling the scam merchant that I sent the monies to Western Union... I got this email

There is no money in my Pal Pal account, and this is clearly a scam people.

BEWARE - They are getting good.

yea i have the same case as well.. same email they sent me as what they sent to you..
at the end i told him ...just get your money back fool. i can see how you do things and its a scam. november 3, 2014 by gumtree. i told my husband ops send a money through western union and a chinese name.. with the name itself i can say that its a scam. 6 am , november 4, 2014 i check my husbands email and i saw a notification that someone had tried to log in in his email address with the same password but gmail didnt allow it and i check the location it says from united stated and the IP address i checked it and way too far from our IP address we are having. so guys watch out for scammers.. dont ever send money .. when someone would ask to send money it is already clear that its a scam.
