Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

I have a car for sale on Auto Trader.
This outfit text me 3 time offering just under my asking price and giving me my unique access code.
On entering their website, you use the access code and all the Auto Trader details appear.
Looked pretty professional and legit but I had my doubts when they asked me to pay for a refundable collection fee - I didn't think this was unreasonable.
They ask you to buy a Pay Point voucher for £75 and once you have, you put the serial code off the voucher into the website.
You then get the opportunity to select how they are going to pay you for your car and the address for collection.
Needless to say they didn’t pick up the car and I’m £75 down.
Some folk out there will think I’m daft for being sucked in……………maybe.

Sorry you had to visit us under these circumstances. You are not the first to be scammed nor will you be the last. Now you are helping others to avoid this.

What was the complete website site address? Was it offer.com? Did you receive any emails from them?

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

We feel your pain Fraz and I don't mean it sarcastically.

Many members go to a lot of effort to paste details of scams, scam email addresses, scam websites and other details to help people avoid getting scammed, and the quickest way to stamp out scammers and their poisonous activities is to ensure no one gets scammed.

One simple check anyone can make before paying anything to anyone is a Google search, and it's completely free. You can't believe everything you read, but you can get a good general idea if something has a good or bad reputation and some sites, like us :D (among others), are very reliable.

In the internet age people have to be very cautious as there are lots of scammers working many different angles, and they don't always want your money, sometimes just your bank details will do.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

I too was caught by this scam. Same text and deposit amount.

Not booked till tomorrow but after research it is clear this was all a scam. The website now no longer works and have received an identical text with a different url. www.best-cash-price.com

Have reported to action fraud and to paysecure but they cannot look into this unless the police want to look further.

Sadly a harsh lesson to learn and will be much more vigilant in future. still left with a car to sell!
