Welcome to Scamwarners nephune.

You have been scammed I regret to say. You can't make a payment to an incorporated company by putting money in to a personal account. Presumably the scammer is impersonating the company and most likely has nothing to do with it. Apart from that it's impossible that a UK company could offer goods manufactured in the USA at a competitive price. Having said that, as far as I know, no i-pods are actually manufactured in the USA.

This is a very common fraud and people don't realise how risky it is to purchase goods from companies you know nothing about off the internet. There are many fraudulent adverts even on reputable websites and I've recently been reporting 100's of scam adverts for cars that appear in the UK, but this problem isn't specific to the UK.

You can report it to the authorities in the USA but they won't be able to do anything to get your money back, I'm sorry to say.

Trying to get people to understand the risks of buying on the internet isn't easy and I'm sorry that you had to learn the hard way.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

The company is a real company, but it won't be them that you have been dealing with - just a scammer who has stolen their identity.

I'm afraid that bank transfers in the UK are not reversible, so you have little chance of getting your money back.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
