Mirabelle McAlpine, [email protected] Is another scammer doing the rounds of GumTree at the moment.
I was selling a camera lens, received an SMS telling me to make contact via email in regards to the lens. Long story cut short:
Fake Paypal email sent to me stating that funds had been transferred into my account....I just needed to send a scanned copy of postal receipt and tracking number within 18 hours..postal address was to Nigeria.

Be careful....there are some twisted individuals out there

Welcome to Scamwarners Westspector,

Thank you for updating with a scammers email address. Please post the email address of the fake Paypal email and the mailing address/person in Nigeria. It would be helpful if you could post his initial script to you. Sometimes they do make changes and this could be helpful to others.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.

Hello vittadolce,

Sorry to say it, but if you sent your "item" to Nigeria you will not get it back. If you are still in contact with the scammer stop. The scammer is also playing the role of the fake Paypal. He may promise you anything but it will not happen. He will only try to scam money out of you this time with more fees.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

You'll note that Nigeria doesn't appear on the list of countries supported by Paypal.

I'm sure that Paypal would love to include the country but fraud is a massive problem there and any time you come across the country Nigeria in a business transaction you should be extra cautious.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

I have stopped talking to the scamed. it's just that i called the post office call centre and they said that that they don't care about the good they just try to get money out of you so they use fake addresses. so the customer support lady said most likely it will get sent back to me.... ..

This scam works two ways. If you are selling something small like cell phones, computers, jewelry, electronics and etc then the scammer wants these items. If it is a vehicle, furniture even horses then the scammer will try to steal your money. He will have you send money to a fake mover/shipper/agent. The scammer will be the mover/shipper/agent.

I do want you to know do not get your hopes up. The USPS has a policy not to recall mail sent overseas. You can bet on the scammer will not return it. The address in Nigeria is real. The name is fake. The scammer will bribe the clerk to pick up the item.

I hope in your case you get it back.
