Thanks to this forum, I quickly figured out that the person who contacted me was scamming.

The initial phone text came from (301) 966-2590 asking me to email him at [email protected] with the asking price (which I thought was weird because the asking price was in the Kijiji ad that I posted). So, I emailed him back with the price and he replied with this:

through your advertisement and I'm happy with the condition and the
price,i'm buying this item for my Daughter and due to the nature of my
job and location i will not be able to come
for inspection I'm currently working overseas so I wont be able to
come and do things personally,

As for the payment i can only pay via PayPal online secure payment, I
insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account
online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal
account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it If you could just send
me a paypal payment invoice or create an account at http://www.paypal.com if
you don't already have one


I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after
the payment has been made so no shipping included, I will make a
confirmed pick up arrangement with my Courier shipping agent who will
be coming over for pick up once you receive full payment into your
PayPal account. My shipping agent will handle everything perfectly
whenever they come for the pick up.

Please can you provide me with the following information:

PayPal Email Address
Full Name
All Total Cost
Contact Mobile Number
Country

As soon as you get back to me with the info I will make the payment
and instruct my agent for pick up. Excited to be dealing with you.

Red flags went up immediately and all I had to do was used the search terms " Kijiji PayPal Scam " to find this forum.
