Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hi everyone,

This is a warning, about a fairly common craigslist scam, a "Kayla Cecil <[email protected]> trying to pull the fraudulent certified check scam. Was trying to sell my old laptop, no bites for MONTHS, then contact from this 'person' about wanting it, would pay my full price + $50 for my 'running around' during the transaction and their moving company would contact me to pick it up. I haven't received the check yet, but when I do it's obviously not getting cashed and will get taken care of, and I keep my laptop.

I know a few others have made posts about certain people who do this regularly on craigslist, I don't know if it's the same person using a different name now, or a new one. But I thought I would pass it along for others to keep their eye out.

Welcome all to Scamwarners.

You can report the scam to the USPS.

File a fraud report with the postal inspection service. http://ehome.uspis.gov/fcsexternal/default.aspx You can also request an envelope from them and actually send them the check since you received it via US mail.

^^A copy of the Check and the envelope will be helpful to the USPS. Make sure you make yourself a copy, print your scammers emails and save them. You will also want to show your bank the emails. Show them you were a victim of a scam.
