I got a similar response for our van listed on Craigslist. Email address: [email protected]. Name Bent Muay.

Full email:
Thank you for getting back to me ,I'm highly interested buying it from you, the price is pretty fine and I'm ready to move on, I will be paying you your asking price and can you assure me that it's in good condition because I don't want to be disappointed buying this from you. I'm ready to pay your asking price but due to the nature of my work, I'm out of state for coaching program where i stationed for my rugby coaching, i have a pick up agent that will come for the inspection and the pick up, the only quickest payment option is PayPal, I make the payment via PayPal since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the PayPal fee/charges on this transaction and if you don't have an account with PayPal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to create. Just log on to www.paypal.com. I hope we can make the deal as fast as possible? I have a Pick Up Agent that will come for the Inspection and take care of every necessary paper for me. the Pick Up Agent will also handle the pick up after i have send the money to your PayPal account.

I need the address where the agent will meet you, your PayPal email address and your final price so i can send the money now.

I told him/her that we already had a local buyer interested.

I posted a fishing boat Saturday and received almost the exact response as yours, ver batim. Luckily, before proceeding with this, I went investigating and saw all the "bent mauy" scam notices! Thanks so much for the head's up! I hope others out there will do the same. I am just wondering if there is any way to get the authorities involved so these people don't get off scott free.

I am selling something on CL and Bent Muay replied that he would give me a cashiers check and upon my cashing it, he would have his agent come pick it up from me.

I replied okay and am waiting to hear back. Curiosity is getting the better of me.

Welcome to Scamwarners lorijeanelle.

*SPOILER ALERT*

You'll get a counterfeit cheque for more than the price of your object and the scammer will want you to pay the extra to his imaginary pick up agent (him) as his fee by Western Union/MoneyGram. The cheque will bounce and the scammer spends the money he gets from you on a drunken night with his scammer pals.

As well as losing the money you pay out, you'll get bank charges for the bounced cheque and they could close your account for passing counterfeit paper. In the worst scenario they could call the police, especially if you cut up rough over them charging you back.

It's a nasty fraud.

Thank you! I received a text message asking me to send a message to this email address and the wording seemed a bit off. I asked if it was a real person and they said yes. The text came from phone number 9412195786. Totally not legit.
