Yesterday I received an email in response to a wedding ring I had listed on Craig's List. I initially googled Robert R. McLaughlin and there is anInternet pastor/author/publisher named Robert R. McLaughlin; however I did not believe this was the same one, as this guy's grammer and punctuation is terrible and reminds me of a foreigner who doesn't know the difference between son and son's! The area code on the phone number he is now using is 760 which is in California. I could not pin point this guy until after several text messages he told me where I was to ship the ring so I could calculate shipping and insurance. Laurinberg, NC, was the location he gave. When I googled his name again with Laurinberg, NC, the posts on ScamWarners came up. I knew immediately it had to be him even though the phone number is different. His email is almost identical to the email he has been sending others. It is like his form letter he uses over and over. My last text to him was giving him the total price, including shipping and insurance. After I found him on ScamWarners, I quickly blocked his number from my cell phone.

Thank you ScamWarners for these postings! I hope that my post will prevent others from falling prey to this scammer!

I got the same set of emails with the exact same wording. It is getting increasingly difficult to sell items on Craigslist without a ton of these bozos coming out of the woodwork. I have been confronting him repeatedly about the situation and he won't respond. In this case he was using the Robert name and it was being sent to his son JOHN in Laurinburg, NC. He had me going at first but luckily I caught on before it was too late. Thanks for all the other posts. It helped a lot. Hopefully mine will too. There is also another fake name (like many others) going by the name of LOUISSE HARTMAN using [email protected] .

I received pretty much the same set of emails from Paster Robert. The first email read as follows:

I should've known from the start it was a fraud given the terrible spelling and grammer. Luckily, given that the notification email "from paypal" came from that non-paypal address, I caught on. So glad this forum was here to back up what I already knew to be true.

I received an email today that is worded exactly like the posts above. This person is now using the name Pastor Robert R. McLaughlin and phone number 872-888-1610. Message says am very interested in this jewelry, i want to purchase it as a gift let me know if its still available and do you accept paypal? Just a few days before Christmas, these people have struck again, trying to buy a diamond ring that he needs right away for a gift, asking if I accept aypal. I'm so glad I researched before I answered. They are using 872-888-1610. Thanks, scamwarners!
