I have been very critical of companies that aren't pro-active in defending their customers from scammers so it's rare that I can commend one, and it's only fair that I do.

II'm not saying that there aren't scams there, but Gumtree are snappy with their trigger finger, and they spot them quickly. Keep it up.

It's having an effect on the scammers who are including their e-mails in their posting to attempt to make them effective for the short time they're in existence, so take that as a suspicious sign. If it's a genuine ad there's no need to include a separate e-mail address. :wink:

Also the phone numbers given are often dummies that ring but never pick up.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
