Autotrader fiat 500 scam. [email protected]

New to this so not sure if I'm doing this right but this site helped me to spot a fraudulent advertisement so trying to save others from a worser fate.

Looking through the fiat 500s on autotrader i came across the one I wanted at an unbelievable price. The site said it was 42 miles away which was perfect. But when looking into the location of the phone number it showed it as Plymouth, over 200 miles away. Stupidly this didn't ring alarm bells. Even when the number didn't work. So using the new email function I emailed to ask details of the vehicle.

The email I received back seemed genuine. And I assumed the good price was due to a quick sale. So when mentioning to my dad he clearly stated that if it looks too good to be true it usually is. When I looked into details of the email address and typed ''mpd'' into google to find a link to this site. Upon looking I found emails exactly the same as the one I received just for different items. The email was as follows:

"Hello,
Its still for sale. Immaculate condition, no damages, nothing to worry about. All necessary documents available. My current location is Scotland due to my work commitments, If this is going to be a quick sale I will let it go for £4,400 delivered at my costs. Are you familiar to eBay? I will list the fiat 500 eBay Motors for the £4,400 buy it now price and I will send you a link to my auction, so you can buy it immediate.
As soon as you will confirm the payment to eBay, I will proceed delivery without any additional costs for you.
In case you are not familiar with them, please read their Buyer Protection and will see that they cover 100% the transaction done through them up to £50,000. You will receive the fiat 500 with all the documents. As you know eBay is the best company of online transactions. If indeed interested in it and have the funds, I will list it on eBay, as I have a 100% positive feedback with them.

You weren't naive at all, as you didn't allow yourself to get carried away with the excitement and you kept your wits about you. The phone numbers are usually duds and they'll always find a reason you can't view the vehicle, but a lot of people don't see the signs, even after the mails become even more suspicious and I can show you the whole set they use.

Knowing the types of vehicle they're currently selling is useful, but it's pretty much anything with wheels and some things without wheels - I've seen boats and more they've posted for sale.

If you can't see it, don't buy it.
