Recently advertised a car on Gumtree and received an email from Michael Seay at email address [email protected]. Luckily I googled the name and found all the messages as a scammer. He has changed his messages a little but here they are:

I'm ok with the price and condition I work on a rig as a mechanical engineer I would have love to call but we do not have access to phone at the moment that's why I contacted you with internet messaging facility, I'm buying it for my vacation.
Regarding the payment, I will be paying you through PayPal, please get back to me with your paypal details so I can process the payment, OR you can alternatively send your bsb and account number if you have no PayPal acct. I have also contacted my courier who will come for pick and deliver it to my place in Darwin after the whole fund has been cleared into your acct. Await your reply.

Tell him it's an Australian custom that the buyer sticks a tinnie where the sun don't shine.

Ask him to confirm when done.

He'll want you to pay the fake courier (him) by Western Union after he's sent you a 'spoofed' Paypal message.

If he can pay you, he can pay the courier too. Any other of his bills he'd like you to pay ?

Thought it was strange to send an SMS first then say they weren't able to use phone 20 mins later, being on a rig and all....
