Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

We are selling a horse on Craigslist. We received a text message this morning asking simply: "what is your final price and its condition?" We responded that her condition is excellent and to make an offer. They offered $100 less than our asking price. We said OK when do you want to see her. They responded with "Good am okay with your price and I will be paying via paypal." When we said that we wanted cash only they stopped communicating.

The odd part is that the telephone number they used to text, 347-560-9523, traces to a landline in Brooklyn, NY. How did they manage that?

Another scammer text response to our ad received this morning from 970-823-2569. VOIP number using an area code from Colorado. Text message received was: "Hello. Its your item available for sale (title of Craigslist ad)". Wants to pay immediately through paypal without questioning price or condition.

Doing a basic Google search, this number has been reported as a Craigslist scammer on several of the "who calls me" type websites since September 2012.

Another number to add to the list. Got a text this morning from 571-488-9137. Text was "(title of Craigslist ad) I am interested in purchasing your merchandise on Craigslist." Wants to pay via paypal without examining the "merchandise". Note the merchandise we are selling is a horse!
