I can confirm that the same bunch of scammers tried to pull off a similar scam with me over the past few days. I answered an Ebay Classified ad for a Land Rover 90 4 x 4 and was sent an answering email offering me the vehicle for exactly the same amount £4300 and this was then followed yesterday with an "Ebay" generated invoice for this amount with Sarah Hudson in the Seller details box with the same address in Scotland. It turns out to be nothing to do with Ebay at all but a bunch of thieves. I was asked to pay the amount into a Barclays Bank account which coincidentally appears to be on the same street in Leicester as the other person scammed by this bunch. I have the details of these transactions now and I will be bringing them to the attention of not only Ebay fraud team, but also Barclays bank and if necessary the police. It probably wont make much difference as these type of scammers probably have all the bases covered, but we cant just allow them to continue to con innocent people out of their hard earned cash.

I have a 12 year old son who is being treated for leukaemia second time around and these heartless people knew this yet still tried to take £4300 of our savings from us. They even tried to fool me with a response to the spoof report I sent to Ebay Spoof team. (It appears that I sent it to the [email protected] instead of [email protected] address and the scammers at [email protected] responded by trying to tell me it was a genuine transaction which Ebay then clarified it wasn't. What a heartless and selfish bunch of crooks.

Beware!!

Graystar could you publish the bank details here and emails with headers for IP numbers and we can ensure the account gets killed. Remove your own details please. Cheers. I am not surprised it is Barclays. Posts here show they have a dismal record over fake accounts with false names using such as ebay-xxxx which reveals obvious fraud use. They appear to need investigation themselves because they are either lax or corrupt in dealing with other peoples money.

Wecome to Scamwarners Graystar.

For those of us who've spoken to victims in person the fact that you have a child with a serious illness will only encourage them. Anything they see as a weakness or vulnerability makes you a better victim to them. If you're penniless they'll try to make you take out a loan and I've known them persuade people pay them rather than buy their medication.

The bank should take action based on your report and I say that based on my work before I retired. Money laundering is a criminal offence, and holding the account of a person known to be money laundering is a banking offence.

Glad to hear you left this cockroach disappointed. :D

I currently have this Sarah Hudson trying to sell me a rather amazing vehicle at a rather good price. Nothing quite matched up so luckily I didn't give any details.

Sorry for not replying sooner, but my son has been having two weeks of chemo in hospital so it hasn't been easy to respond quickly.

The Barclays Account Details used in this scam to send the £4300 to are as follows (extracted from the Bogus "Ebay" Invoice):

Benificiary
C Nelu

Sort Code

20 29 41

Account Number

93817512

I took all the details to my local Barclays Bank branch and they seemed genuinely interested in sorting things out with the help[ of the Barclays Fraud Team. However I have heard nothing back from them despite giving them my contact details.

I dont know how to post the emails received from these scammers. Perhaps someone can advise me how to do this.

Thank you

Gray

I would go as far as to say that it would be both negligent and irresponsible if the bank didn't pay attention to your report Graystar. It is a legal responsibility and a duty of care they owe to the government, their shareholders and those harmed by the criminal activities of their account holders.

I wouldn't expect them to advise you of their actions or response to your report, so you may hear nothing, but sloppy administration of money laundering regulations is a banking sin with potentially horrific repercussions for any banks found to be failing their duty.

Even an innocent mule should never have their account appear twice on these forums, and if they do, there is one certain and obvious way to protect the public, and banks have the authority and means to do it.

I too was nearly caught out. Smelt a rat when no feedback score was visible on invoice and also no request for login to my ebay. Contacted ebay to be told they had no knowledge of the item and that they do not offer buyer protection on vehicles. Thankfully I found out before it was too late.
