I originally posted a listing on Craigslist (here: http://eauclaire.craigslist.org/vgm/3272371248.html) and received a response from a buyer; when posting, I intentionally anonymized my email and didn't list my phone number or any contact details to avoid the possibility of being scammed.
However, I received two emails from a [email protected] (which I perhaps stupidly responded to) both of which are copied below:
First:
Second:
Potentially, it could be a real buyer since they are using PayPal and aren't (at least, not yet) requesting a second or third party. I think, with PayPal (as long as one is using the official site), you can verify cleared payment (right?). Still, this offer seems a little off, so I'm not sure if it's the best bet to just say, "No thanks". On the other hand, I am unemployed, so any profit would be exceedingly helpful. Also, I've never really heard of a scammer scamming for such a small amount of $$.
Side note:
I searched online for "[email protected]" and found nothing. A search for the name "Johnson Peters craigslist scam" only showed the following:
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 537AAXhN7n
The details aren't exactly identical, but are perhaps similiar enough to not be coincidental
