:=) Put up a car for sale on Gumtree about 500.00 more that we would take for it. I was happy with £2k. Nigerian guy called from London, I live in Ireland, he contacted me lots of times and said he wanted to buy it. I thought that he was then going to ask for western union transfer, but instead he asked for my address. I gave him the address of the local prison and thought nothing of it. He kept contacted me saying he was coming over and I was waiting on him saying he would transfer money by Western Union Transfer....this did not happen. Today, I received three calls from a local cab company saying that had two people in his cab who were wanting to buy my car....I missed these calls and messages as my phone was out of charge. I called the number back and the taxi person told me that they had two black nigerians in their car and they looked for my address (beside the prison, about 30 miles from my house) and then as they could not find it, took them back to Belfast International Aiport. I am completely baffled by this!!!

Was it a scam, did I scam them?

Welcome to ScamWarners baffled. It is hard to know what they were up to. Scammers do not typically show up in person. They may have wanted to buy your vehicle. Scammers do not like to be seen in person. You may have lost a sale.

Just because someone is from Nigeria does not mean they are a scammer. The percentage of scammers in Nigeria is actually small compared to the number of citizens in of that country.

Please post up the emails you received from this person. Also post up the headers which may tell you more about where the emailer was sending the messages from.

I don't know how easily citizens travel between England and Ireland. We do have members who are familiar with both countries and the customs. Hopefully they will weigh in on this.
