just got this scam on cl

i posted my car for sale on cl this morning and got an email. after looking around at your other entries on this site it is most definitely a scam. the iptracker thing says the email came from mountain view/sunnyvale california:

Hello machinebx!

You are correct it's a scam. The scammer would send you fake PayPal emails making it look like he transferred the money. Then fake PayPal would tell you to wire the shipping cost via Western Union for the funds to be realesed. It's all fake the scammer is after the shipping money.

Adding more new emails addresses given to me. Gang of scammers targeting craigslist with fake paypal payments. The paypal emails and screenshot will look real but are fake. Paypal will not hold your fund until you show proof of shipping. Log into paypal directly not using any links. Check your balance. Call paypal using their number provided on the true paypal site if in doubt. The scammer may want you to send an overpayment to his shipper. The shipper and his emails are from the same gang of scammers. Some cases the scammer actually wants to steal your item.

agent says I will need to pay for the pickup before they can schedule
and pickup time, they charged me $500 for pick up and delivery and payment

in the city and Western Union Money Transfer is the preferred
mode of payment. I will add the $500 to the money am sending to

There's not much that can be told except that it sounds like a scam script; the IP address is Craigslist, and if he emails you directly he's on Gmail so you still won't have his real location. But any other potential victims who search for the email address will find it here.
