Beware of this person Anna barnes or sannabarnes which is just a variation of the name and email address. They posted on oncewed.com selling a Jenny Packham dress. My emotions got the best of me and wanted to believe that they were selling an Azalea dress for 1,500$. I wired this person 1,000$ and told them I would wire the rest once I received the dress. This person had every excuse in the book as to why they couldnt use escrow or paypal but for some reason I let my heart and not my head guide me. They continued the scam even saying they didn't get my wire transfer and that I was scamming them, even though I had a wire confirmation and tracking number that they could give their credit union. They even gave me this fake number which I was able to text to them but when you tried to call it, it was a computer. I called the police but they couldn't do much so I obligated myself to make this person's life a living hell. I have searched for other listings and sure enough they were listing two other Jenny Packham dresses and I contacted them through a different email and spent lots of time going back and forth, wasting their time and acting like I was gonna buy the dress. i contacted the website and they got their listing taken down and I also contacted other wedding dress websites about this individual. After my experience I want to offer some advice on how to spot a fake:
1. They can't supply you additional pictures of what they already posted
2. They can't show you pictures of the dress in its current state (like hanging in their closet)
3. They get the sizing versus what they show in the picture messed up (this scammer posted on their second post a dress on a bride that was clearly a size 2 and said they were selling a size 10)
4. The deal is too good to be true-and their prices are far lower then the other brides posting
5. They want you to pay via paypal but have you mark the transaction as a friend. (paypal does not cover these transactions between friends).
If you are still unsure, have them write the current date down and show it next to a picture of the dress. This scammer couldn't do that. They claimed the ink written on the paper would stain the dress even after I suggested they place it in a plastic baggie.
Any questions? Hope you don't get scammed like I did.
