Craigslist - Old Scam/New Name

Same scheme as reported by viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35956 as well as others. Schemer is now trolling with [email protected] & responds with replies as J F [email protected]

Offers to pay asking price + extra, sight unseen... yeah, right

I'm glad you realized before losing money to this scammer.

What you are doing (leading the scammer along) is scambaiting, and it is something that needs to be done safely. We have another website, 419eater.com that is devoted to scambaiting. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend visiting, as there is a tremendous number of tools and tips to help.

Having scammers send items to the police will not get the scammer arrested. They don't have the background or information to do anything with it. It will only lead to time wasted by the police who then have to deal with a package of unknown origin.

When you lead a scammer to an anti-scam forum, or tell him he is posted, he will not stop scamming. He will simply change his name, but since his new identity won't be reported yet, the likelihood of success in his scams will increase. Even when you bait a scammer, it is best to leave him thinking he is safe, so he continues to use the same name and email address.

Boy I wish I would have gotten on before "Angelkay39" got to me. I was scammed almost identically to this string that I just read. I was selling tickets to a show and he came on and pretty much followed the exact same script. Been to the bank and the police and there really is nothing that can me done or will be done. Would love to know how to get back at them but dont even know where to start. I do have the address of where the money grams were sent from and the address to wire the money to is almost exactly the same in the UK. I guess this is lessons learned but I will from this point on keep in touch with this site to see what new scams are out there.
