I did a Google search of this email and it came back to this forum as a scammer. I've since joined the forum. Thank you for this valuable information. Here are the two emails I received related to this scam:

From: Hunter Grierson <[email protected]>
Hello. Still up for sale? Thanks

When I replied in the affirmative the next email was:

From: Sam wincott <[email protected]>
Hello. Hope you doing great. I was told by my assistant that your item is still for sale,i would have love to come and see it,but my scheduled is very tight.I will mail out your payment once you provide your full name.phone number and address or P O Box. I can only pay via Money order , as am on a business trip now in the UK,pls let me know where to send your payment to because i wouldn't want to lose it to some else.I don't mind adding ($50) dollars so you can keep it in my favor, you should get your payment in 3-5 working days i will appreciate if you can get the ad off craigslist so i can be sure you are keeping it in my favor. Please let me know as soon as you receive it so i can start making arrangement for the pick-up.
Thanks

to me

Hi,
Your payment has been sent but there is something i think i must bring to your notice immediately. I just discovered there is an error in the payment sent to you. My assistant sent the payment meant for another item that's more expensive than yours. I have called the post office to see if they could retrieve it but nothing positive. I really don't know what to do now. Please and Please, you can go ahead and cash out the payment at your Bank when you receive it, deduct your payment and send the balance via western union to the details i will provide you with. Can i trust you to do that for me?

I happily told him that his assistant can pick up the cash upon the funds being fully cleared.

He really doesn't have any item and he doesn't want an item. He wants to send you a forged check and have you deposit in into your bank account. The bank may process the check as normal and you will think that the check is good.

Eventually the banking system will discover that you deposited a forgery and they will come after you to make their loss right. You will have fees and very often a visit from the police for trying to defraud your bank. Your credit will be ruined. You may go to jail and you WILL lose money and the item you send.

You can take the check to the police with print outs from your email conversations. You can also take it to your bank in the same way. Do NOT deposit the check into your account under any circumstances, it is a forgery.

Thank you so much for the warning. I posted an item on craigslist and his "assistant" emailed me first. The email he sent me was an exact copy. He sent two Money Gram Money Orders for $985.50 each.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your post helping me avoid this scam.

Have a good night!

I just got the same thing last night. Is there any way to stop people like this ?

I have received two replies to something I am selling on craigslist. They are from different "people" I think but I told them I only do cash and local delivery. This happened once before with something else I was trying to sell. Seems to happen on high priced items. Here are the emails I got. He even replied after I told him no can do, need cash and local:

Hello,

How are you doing, Happy Weekend... Well let's do like this,
actually now I'm not in town for now, I came to visit my son so i wont
be able to meet with you but am okay with the price as seen on the
advert, I'll proceed in issuing a Certified Check out to you and when
you received the check , I will make arrangement for pick-up. So get
back to me with below details asap.

Full Name:
Strees Address Apt # ( NOT P O BOX ) :
City:
State:
Postal Code:
Home Phone Number:
Cell Phone Number :

And as soon as this is provided, the payment will mail out via Usps
Priority mail or Fedex to you and i will let you know when its mailed
out. I need you to be honest with the sale as I am a God fearing
person and also i want you to consider the item sold to me,kindly
remove the advert from the site because am highly interested in it
okay.

Awaiting details from you now.

Thanks

God Bless
Dr Alex Jordan.

Thank you.
I was skeptical of giving out my address for a check and how someone can be so trusting.
I am so glad I googled his name and came upon this forum for [email protected].
FYI: His assistant email I received was from Kevin Grierson [email protected].

This party is attempting to scam me NOW. I gave my address and he sent me some "money grams" which I assume to be fake. I filed an online fraud claim. The envelope was from a foreign country with no return address. I couldn't even make out which country. My son experienced this same type of scam attempt.

Deface or destroy the documents as they are faked/forged and you don't want to be in possession of forged documents.

This guy just tried to scam me. I'm so glad I googled the email address and found this site. I knew it was too good to be true. His "assistant's email address" was [email protected] but nothing came up when I searched for.that one. Thanks for this site, it saved me some trouble.

I just got an email from a guy named Kevin Grierson asking if my item was still available. I responded yes and today I got this from a guy named Nelson Hernandez (email address is [email protected] ):

"Hello your reply came as anonymous, pls send me your email address to facilitate payment and pick up"

I responded with an email address I rarely use as I was suspicious and got this as a reply:

"I was told by my assistant that your item is still for sale ,i would have
loved to come and see it,but my schedule is very tight.I will mail out your
payment once you provide your full name.phone number and address.I can only
pay via money order as am on a business trip now,pls let me know where to
send your payment to because i wouldn't want to loose it to someone else.I
don't mind adding thirty ($30) dollars so you can keep it in my favor, you
should get your payment in 4-6 working days i will appreciate if you can get
the ad off craiglist so i can be sure you are keeping it in my favor. Please
let me know as soon as you receive it so i can start making arrangement for
the pick-up.
Thanks "

I responded back asking if he even knew what he was buying and what his assistants name was and he answered correctly and have the name of the first guy Kevin. I just did a search for both of these guys and found this thread. I figured it was a scam but this confirms it. Just for fun I asked him who would be picking up the item (a stroller) and he said:

"A pickup company would do that as soon as you have received payment"

Anyway. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Sucks there are so many dishonest people out there. I just want to sell my stroller.
