Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Here's a new one...sending an SMS text message to my phone first with the usual carrot...

Hi, I want to know if your car is still up for sale. Kindly email me on: [email protected]

...which appeared to be sent from a New York number, 347-349-1828.

I sensed a rat but sent an email anyway, which got me this familiar looking response...
Thanks for the prompt reply,I will like to know the lowest price for it, i want you to get back to me with more picture and the present condition of it because i could not come over to inspect it, i am buying it locally here as a birthday gift for my Son that is living in Malaysia.

I am at sea at the moment as i am an Oceanographer ( i work on Great Ocean Road in South-West Victoria,Australia ) and due to the nature of my work, phone calls is restricted. It was my son that check your advert and sent you a text to contact me (his mother ) on my email address because i am currently offshore .

I am really sure he will be more than happy if i am able to purchase it from you because this is what he want and chose from the Advert.

You need not worry yourself about how it will get to him there in Malaysia as i have a contact of shipping company there that will be handling the pick up and all the paper work.

Hmm, thanks for confirming my suspicions "Jenny"!

Looks like "Jenny" has decided to go through Kijiji.ca as well.

Got a text from the phone number 1-646-493-4319 with the exact same wording as the original poster. Sent a reply by email only to once again the exact same reply as the original poster.

Thanks ScamWarners for the heads up.

I got SMS this morning from the same number 1-347-349-1828 and the same message, but different email : [email protected]

Once i notice the weird phone number, i googled and found this forum which is very helpful! Kijiji.ca is best to sell stuffs to local people. So i can tell from the area code "347" is not in Canada.

Hope people will not fall to this scam. Thanks for sharing and warning me :)

I even mentioned that I was an online fraud investigator, so was as busy as he was, but this didn't deter the little devil. Still, it passed a quiet Sunday evening....

Welcome to ScamWarners id-detective. Scammers often do not take the time to really read what you write back to them. They are looking for the scam to move ahead quickly and they try to rush the victims before they have time to think about the situation.

We are always glad to have someone who helps interrupt the scammer's methods.

SaabSeller,
You got to ask yourself why someone would buy a Saab in New york and have it shipped to Malaysia
when for a fraction of the cost they could buy it in Sweden where the car is manufactured. :)

Jenny is back with a new phone number out of the north Dallas, TX., area. It's the same people who have been doing this with multiple names, phone numbers and emails. They always ask the same question and when you respond there are at sea and can't accept calls or texts. If you are at sea and can't accept them, how did you text in the first place? These people are dumb! New number and email:
