Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hello,

I was recently scammed by the website www.surveyinghill.com. They trade with survey equipment but I had never received the item. The procedure was as follows:

I contacted them by myself because they have quite "good deals"
They replied that they want more money for their set to cover their shipping and insurance expecnes.
We agreed on splitting the price into half - first one paid at the begining
Then I received the invoice, tracking number and link to websites of the "shipping company"
I send the other half of money
Then I realized that the shipping company doesn´t exist and it was all made up by the scammer.
I contacted them again but without any responce since then

I´m trying to trace the money but I doubt in any success:(
If I will post you some headers of their e-mail would anybody be able to track them down??

Thank you!

Claire

Please post links to the fake shipping company . We can attempt to determine the email origination with a header , depending on the email provider , it may not be possible to determine the geographic origination .

Welcome ClaireHudson and I'm sorry to hear what's happened to you.

It's unusual for a scammer to choose such a specialist item to use in scamming, though I don't doubt you, and I'm interested to know how you discovered the website. Did they contact you, or were they advertising in specialist magazines or websites, eBay or some other way. Usually they 'cast their net wide' and hope to convert a proportion to money. They don't normally hang around waiting for a lucky strike.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

It really is. That was one of the reasons why did I trust this sites. I contacted them first because I found the equipment I was looking for on their webpages. They weren´t advertising anywhere else than on the internet....

Hello Brendon,
Please post a sample of the emails from this company and include the email that asked for money to be paid. Be sure to remove your personal information before posting.

It is ALWAYS a scam
If the pet seller or shipper asks for money to be sent via Western Union, Money Gram, any brand of gift card. Walmart To Walmart , Zelle , PayPal friends and family option, or mentions Cameroon

If you did a bank to bank transfer you can contact your bank to see what your options are. These scammers probably have already transferred the money to another account so in reality there is not much hope of recovering your funds.

Yes it was a bank to bank transfer and it seemed to take ages for them to say the money had cleared.ill contact my bank anyway thanks.the only negative feedback i can find on them is from the person that started the post...

This is interesting. They do not accept the following payment types for first time customers.
This company does not want to risk a payment dispute resulting in a charge back.

Paypal
We can accept payment through Paypal only for returning order with returning customers. It's very important for us just accept payment by Paypal for returning customers.

Offline Credit Card
Same with Paypal, we can accept payment through Credit Card only for returning customers.
