Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Hello, I was getting ready to place an order for a Coach purse at http://www.coachoutletstores.us.com and put in my full name, shipping address, and phone number, but stopped before putting in payment info. 2 things raised my hackles: the site didn't accept Amex and the payment page didn't have the s (it was only http instead of https) to indicate the payment screen was secure, so I erased all my info and deleted the items in my cart. However, my name and address were still appearing in a drop down menu as if they had been "saved" by the site. I checked them out on http://www.scamadviser.com and they are "low trust rating", only been around for about a year. Should I be concerned at this point? Did the site capture my info and should I be worried they may try to steal my identity?

Thank you for reporting this site. Just googling coachoutletstores.us.com brought up more similar sites.

coachoutletstores.us.com is registered in China to an Asian name - that would NOT be a legitimate seller of legitimate Coach. They are selling knock offs if they exist at all, which is a crime. Buying knock-offs is a crime.

You were right to be suspicious. If you didn't enter any of your CC information into the form and then click on a proceed or submit button, you should be fine, but you can always call American Express and ask them to be sure. If it's a multi-step form all on one page, it may have only stored your name/address as a cookie but it could have also stored it on the site. Without seeing the back-end I couldn't say for sure. There's not much they can do with your name/address other than to try to use it in other scams. Google your own name/address every once in awhile to make sure it's not popping up anywhere.

I HIGHLY recommend only purchasing designer Coach from authorized Coach stores.

Edited to correct registered to.

For future information, the REAL coach website offers information on how to legally purchase Coach goods:

Thank you for the good info. I never typed in any payment info, so I don't know what good it would do to call my CC company. I only gave them my name, mailing address, email and phone number. I'm thinking maybe I should shut down that email address though. For the record, my intent was to purchase a legitimate Coach purse from an authorized, legal site. There are Coach outlet stores in several locations some distance from me that sell genuine Coach products at a reduced cost from what one would find at the full Coach retail store. My mistake was probably in thinking that a Coach outlet store would have a website. After giving it some thought, I think the outlet store items probably move in and out of the store too quickly and are too varied for a website to work for them. Thanks again for the advice.

If they have your email address, you will probably start getting a bunch of spam, so starting a new email account wouldn't be a bad idea. I use 3 different email addresses for daily life. I have 1 that I use for the sole purpose of online shopping. I have one I use for the sole purpose of paying my bills and for my bank account. Then I have my regular one that I use for social media and friends and family. That keeps spam away from the one that is connected to my financial information and that email address is no where public.

Believe you me - I understand looking for Coach, I'm a Coach and Kate Spade kinda girl myself. For designer handbags, I always recommend either going to the Coach outlets in person -or- through one of the authorized sellers. There are "some" vintage or used ones on eBay, but always do your research before buying one.

Hope that helps ease your mind a little. Chalk it up as a lesson learned. And also know that the site you came here about as well as a few clones have all been reported for fraud as well :)
