I had a strong feeling at purchase that this premium car stereo/GPS sold everywhere else on ebay for $300 was a scam at $52 NEW, but the ebay "buyer protection" lured me in to thinking I was protected and it would be painless- not wrong on the fraud part, but wrong about "ebay protection".
Here is the fake auction (8land36 in China) for $52 shipped brand new car stereo (13 sold to other people):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-2-Din-In ... 1663831592
Legit seller she copied the auction from $295 shipped:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Double-2-Din-In ... 1639708095
By now, the feedback from others makes it obvious, this is a COMPLETE SCAM, a friend also bought one, waiting a couple of days to see what he receives.
The seller gave me a tracking number, and it came today - a 3 inch flat envelope arrived with a piece of fricking STRING in it!!!! I stupidly made a claim to ebay that I received something other than what was ordered.
The seller may reside in Massachusetts, it said this in a response to question I asked, while they claim to be in China, the sellers name is Annette Landreville obviously not a Chinese name, but probably fake also - I think this person is in the US, and has put an order through on my behalf for some worthless item in china in order to produce a tracking number and fool me in to thinking something is coming.
All that was expected - what was not expected - ebays procedure, they requested that I send the piece of fricken string back to china for a refund (i am sure the person in Boston will claim she never received the returned item and delay my refund). The piece of string is not even worth the return envelope to china!!! What is worse I have clicked on all manner of buttons on ebay and find no way to send a message to customer service to actually look at this. Now I actually call and talk to a person and have been told this is all proper, everything looks in order, no - 13x $300 auctions sold for $50 looks normal, other people receiving the same string - normal mis-ship, be sure to insure your piece of string and return to seller.
I am willing to gamble it will be at least a month before I get my $52 back - the seller obviously has this well planned out, and most likely has done this before under another alias. My credit card will charge me interest after 30 days, so yes, I have now been robbed, as ebay most assuredly wont be responsible for such events... buyer protection sure feels more like "scammer protection" to me.
After talking with customer service, it appears everyone is best buying trivial items on ebay of low value, items under $50, or what ever money you are comfortable throwing in the fire.
Ebay has asked me to send it back to this address:
Annette Landreville
huangshixilu
guangzhou 广东省 510000"
[email protected]
This posting is mainly just to get the sellers info out there in case others are searching in wonder as to whether they have been scammed - do not be fooled by ebay support - several people were scammed, this is no mistake.
See picture for what I ordered (pic taken right out of auction), and what was received:
