Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

hi, i was selling my car on car sales, PETER CLINTON contacted me about it, he firstly text me , telling me to email him, so i emailed him, he emailed back said " i work for new Zealand oil and gas and we are presently offshore in new Zealand taranaki basin on kupe project, we do not have phone access at the moment, that why i contacted you with internet messaging facility. regarding the payment i ill be paying through papal linked with me westpac account, please get back to me with your papal details so i can transfer the funds over. i have a courier who will pick up your car and deliver it to my place n Darwin after the whole funds have been cleared". after that email he emailed back again saying that it will cost $1500 for the courier to come pick it up and if i could pay it then he would pay me back, he explained to me how to trasnfer the money through western union to Lei Ning, 18 Suhao building, nanxin road, nanshan distrcict, shenzhen china. so i transferred the $1500 to lei ning through western union, once i transferred the funds PETER CLINTON, said if i could transfer another $2500 to cover the insurance and he would pay me back, at this stage i knew it was a scam and told him no and i demanded my money back and he emailed me and said "good luck wit getting it back". i have told PETER CLINTON that i will report him and do anything to get my money back. is there anyway that i can get my $1500 back?? Please help

To be blunt and answer your question, no, you will not get any money back. Once the scammer has picked it up from Western Union, there is no way to know who this person is or where he actually lives.

You can help others by posting up the email address the scammer used, that way anyone who may be in the process of being scammed can search the email address and find that indeed, it is a scammer.

I wish I had a happy ending for you. Sadly, I do not have such an ending.

As you probably realize now, sending money by Western Union or MoneyGram is a bad idea. Scammers use thos systems because is not traceable.

I hope you will read around and learn about the various types of scamms that are out on the internet.
