Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

So I recently bought some headphones from a website called best-accessoriesuk.com, while it was against my best judgement and I never buy things from Asia (unless its vape related), I did the deed and bought a pair. They were slightly cheaper than on most sites (marginally) so being the smelly bastard I am, I scooped em up.

The question is will they arrive?
Will they be genuine?

I received proof of purchase, good sign
I received a tracking number... Seems to be working

The website in hindsight looks ridiculously dodgy but I just want to hope, hope that I'm wrong and this is a great China based company that only deals in the genuine article... Yeah....

How did you pay?

The site gives the impression of being based in the UK, but you seem to be under the impression that they are based in Asia. If they are in China and are lying about their location then, you're either going to get some cheap fakes that aren't worth the money you paid or you'll get nothing at all. Either way, you won't be getting genuine branded headphones.

The site was only registered in November 2014 and the registrant details and address used on the site is a virtual office

£60+ I have a tracking number based in Asia that seems to work, and while I have received genuine tech from China before this doesn't feel like one of these times, is there anyway to get my money back do you think?
by AlanJones Mon May 04, 2015 4:07 am
That depends on how you paid - if it was by Western Union, Moneygram or Bank Transfer then you have no chance. If you paid by Credit Card or PayPal then it will depend on whether anything turns up or not. If nothing does then you can complain to your card company or PayPal for non-delivery and will probably get the charge reversed. If they turn up and they're fake, you'll probably find that you're in for a lot of arguing with the Card Co/PayPal.

Thanks for all the speedy replies!
I paid via debit card if that helps? I will be extremely peeved either way haha £60 isnt cheap when you're a student

This page covers UK consumer law on protection for debit card payments https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consu ... ebit-card/

It would also be a good idea to keep an eye on your bank statements for any unauthorised charges since you appear to have given your card details to someone who lies about where they are located.

it smells like week old fish that has been left out in the summer sun, to me, Cigarette.

I'm curious about the tracking link you say you got that "seems to work". Will you right click that link, choose "copy link location" or "copy target location" ( Depending on your browser, it is similar language), then paste that link here in the forum.

I don't like the fact that I found a 2nd website selling what is probably similar material, using a completely different name and physical address, same phone #. (and the domain is misspelled).

http://www.yw56.com.cn/english/index.aspx

Link to tracker
Track ID is YR645751615CN

The status changed and seems like legit tracking?
by Cigarette Mon May 04, 2015 12:38 pm
In my opinion I believe I will get the item but it'll be a fake... Hopefully a quality fake haha

The real question is, are my bank details safe
by HillBilly Mon May 04, 2015 1:23 pm
again, there is no listing for a company called "Yanwen" in the Companies house. It is possible they use a different name in the UK, but since they don't mention it on their website, it a massive speculation. If they are legally doing business in the UK, they must register with the Companies house.

Yanwen logistics will launch its own brand YANWEN international express service in November 2008, first covering services in Britain and Germany, than following with other countries. Recently our services will expand to the United States and France, please keep your attention.

YANWEN express service has following characteristics:
  1. www.yw56.com.cn Keeping track of the whole process(meanwhile English tracking is provided).
  2. Less than EMS rate, and no less than DHL service.
  3. To reply your inquiry within 24-48 hours.
  4. Delivery is completed within 3-5 days.
  5. In Britain, express is delivered by the British Post Office
  6. In Germany, express is delivered by DPD(the second express company, belong to La Poste).

For more details, please contact your sales.

I thought your first question was if the product would arrive..... now you are concerned about your bank details being safe, and more of a priority.

I dropped an item in my cart, went to check out and it took me to a secure page. While that can not answer the question you asked about your details being safe or not, it is a good sign.

I'd strongly suggest you contact your bank, tell them the entire story, and ask them what your choices are.
Also, if you haven't received your product within the 5 or 6 days they claim you will, cancel the order and dispute the charges on your card ( if that is even an option). Alan gave you a link to what your options are for where you live, but contacting your financial institution they can tell you how those items are instituted at their bank.

That is a very helpful reply, I will indeed contact my bank, I am glad at the very least the payment page was relatively safe. Everyone on this website has been nothing but helpful!

I'm already almost a week in

If it were me, I'd give it no more than the 5 or 6 days that they said it would take for you to receive your package. Your bank will know the limits of "how long to dispute" charges, and all that other good info. So yes, your best bet it to talk to the bank first. You can call the bank before those 5 or 6 days is up, get the name of the person you speak to, and when you call back say "I spoke to XXX, operator # XXXX a day or 2 ago and he/she said......."

Please don't misunderstand my words. I said nothing close to "it was relatively safe". I said "it was a good sign".

Being a secure page ( https as opposed to http) only means the connection is secure between the user's PC, and the server. It can not say anything about who operates the server, or what they will do with that information.

It only provides that chances are very slim ( a near 100% guarantee) that no 3rd parties can intercept your transaction. Unless of course, that website itself had been hacked, then the hackers can get your info as they would be the ones on the "server" end of the transaction.
