Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Welcome to ScamWarners harrypol0898. I am sorry to hear you have sent such large sums of money. How did you send the money?

If you sent it thorough Western Union, and the receiver has picked it up, I am sorry to tell you the money is gone. If you sent the funds through the real PayPal, you have some recourse.

Scammers hide behind totally fake information. They are almost always in a country different from yours so the police don't have much to go on. I would encourage you to file a police report anyway. Some times when the police get enough victims they may act on a scam.

I also hope you have turned the information into eBay.

The more you can tell us, the better we can try to help you. If you prefer, send the information by PM. ----->

Bubbles, former Scamwarners moderator.

Rest in Peace 24 June 2015.

Gone, but never forgotten.

Sarah from scotland still on 9th September with live posting showing Taekuchi mini digger as a classified ad. It was advertised by Georgi Balabanov from London but 'sarah'then started emailing from Scotland.
Please see correspondence as below. I was gradually getting suckered in until I googled using the scammers words and that got me onto this site.
What follows is a copy of the correspondence - hope it stops someone else getting suckered in and thanks to all who posted warnings on this scam.

Usually classified ads are done in person but this time due to my location and since view is not an option I have requested personal support and I was approved to use Buyer Protection Program.
To start the official transaction, I need to know your delivery information. As soon as I have them I'll start the official procedure, and eBay will send further instructions including payment and delivery terms.
Thank you

Sarah

Dear Sarah

Unfortunately classified ads are not covered under ebay services and protection as under. Not sure we can resolve this difficulty. I need to be sure that you have good title to the Takeuchi and it is as described. If so on delivery I am more than happy to pay as we are running up a hire bill on the exact same item.

Regards

Chris

Classified Ad

Classified Ads connect buyers and sellers, who then complete the sale outside of eBay. You'll see 'Classified Ad' in the item listing and search results.

Benefits:

You can find items or services that don't fit into standard categories.

You can deal personally with the seller.

Considerations:

Classified Ad sales aren't backed by eBay services and protection, including Feedback and problem resolution.

Classified Ads are offered only for certain items.

Subject: Re: takeuchi

Here is how the process works with the eBay Buyer Protection Program:

- you give me your full name and shipping address
- I start the transaction with the eBay,
- they send further payment instructions,
- you have to pay for the item to eBay to secure the funds,
- they confirm me that they received the funds,
- I deliver the digger,
- you receive the digger,
- they send me the money,

Everything is covered by eBay. I will get paid only after you confirm that you received the digger in good order.
Let me know if this is acceptable. Thank you

Sarah

The delivery address is in Devon(EX 16 8QB 12 miles off M5) . If the unit is as described I’m happy about the deal. I’d have to see the papers and it would have to be payment on delivery.

Same person 'sarah' also selling caravan on ebay. Almost caught out today but thought I would google her email address and luckly brought me to this web site. Thank God I found you guy's!
Was a bit wary because of price, and then all her gumf on ebay policy as I'm a ebayer myself knew that classified adds are not covered the same as normal auction sales which made me wonder! To good to be true.
She also wouldn't give me crisis number so I could do a hpi check. Very sus!
Have reported ad to ebay, hope they remove it before some poor person get's sucked in! :bondage:

Thank You - i feel its only right that i post something as you have saved me from losing £7000!

I've just had a near miss with this email address....due to a few things not adding up i investigated a little more and thank god i typed her email in to google and found your website!

'Sarah' was selling a VW split screen camper on autotrader.co.uk and wanted me to use ebay for the transaction...

She used exactly the same email as the one that was sent to chris below - word for word.

A few things flagged up...firstly the telephone number on autotrader started with 028...which i knew was northern ireland...she then said she was from Scotland and refused to speak over the phone... "i am unable with phone so please use email as primary contact option" which sounds like something that has been put through a translation tool.

There was to be no viewing or verbal contact...only i was to inspect the goods upon arrival and then the funds would be transferred to her.

Once again thank you so much for posting!

They are using a new address now [email protected], but usual story. Fortunately there were enough doubts in my mind, and then found my way to this website. 24 hours after reporting it to Autotrader, it is still on their site... Shame on them!

Hi,

I have also been caught out by this person, orginally advertising a mini clubman on Ebay, then communicating via email address Sarah [[email protected]]. Received a fake ebay transcation to the following.

Beneficiary: A. Ciule
Bank Name: Barclays
Account no: 53761282
Sort Code: 20-53-04

The Police are involved and I don't hold much hope in getting my money back, but if anyone has any leads that may lead to this scammers real identity please could you get in touch.

Many Thanks
