Slim,
That's a shame about the mover needing the funds up front, but I understand that is business with the economical climate being as it is. I don't know how you managed it so kudos to find a removal company to travel 1100 miles each way to collect this item for you, he must owe you a favor or he has a real economical van for $550 to cover his expenses and fuel being as it is. If he is looking for some extra business whilst he is down here I have some fallopian tubes that I need help to move to the local recycling center, I sure could use the help, even since my accident I have not been so mobile as I was once. You see they had to give me prosthetic legs, but I cant complain, at least I still have my own feet right? Also if your friend wants to hang around a few days, I have a business venture I would like to discuss with him, I have a business partner in Nigeria who is actually the rightful Prince to the region but he needs to deposit some cash till the heat dies down, it pays handsomely. This could be the big break He's been looking for, after all who wants to lug furniture all your days especially across 3 different time zones and 5 states, that cant be helping his situation at home.
Anyway, if your mate just takes a drive down here, take a left at the Unicorn petting zoo, and past the time machine factory through the money tree Forrest waits until the next full moon and asks the Giant for me, He'll know where the find me.

Pleasure doing business with you.
Elvis

I am new here. Found this response and took the liberty to respond with this above verbatim to the same individual this morning. This site saved me the embarrassment and loss of $900. There is little anyone can do about these folks as they are smart enough to spoof the email id yet have trouble with the King's english.
Look for me riding the unicorn to ease my aching feet... :bondage:

I just wanted to add to this thread that I was contacted by "Victoria". She was replying to my craigslist ad saying she wanted to buy my washer/dryer set. She sent me the same type of email that others have posted. I have been using paypal for over 13 years, since the website opened partnered with x.com, so i know the rules and i knew immediately that she was trying to scam me.My ad specifies "CASH ONLY at the time of transaction" so I replied back that I only take cash at the time of pickup (so the buyer sees the product and agrees to the purchase, everyone walks away happy and UNscrewed). She hasnt replied but i bet she does, offering more money if i would just take paypal just this once. Ive heard alot of scammers over the years, shes nothing special. BUT she is dangerous, especially to people who arent used to how fraudulent users operate. Im very glad to see this website and I hope it keeps people from being taken advantage of.

Thanks,
Rachel

For the record, Here is the email she sent me.

I got basically the same note from "Rick", email address [email protected]

Hello,

Thanks for the response, My name is Rick Smith. I am buying this as a surprise to someone very dear to me and I want to keep it that way(AS A SURPRISE) after delivery day. I work with Turner Construction,we are currently working at a very rural area which makes it very hard for me to make phone calls due to bad network reception here but you can always text me on (501)438-9373 . I will not be able to view it but I have a Mover who will come for the pickup so please get back to me with more pics and also I will be making the payment via PayPal as that is the only payment option I can access from here I hope you understand.I have some questions for you;

Are you the first owner of it?

Where do you live?

What is your final asking price?

Does it have anything negative i should know about?

Hope to read back from you soon.....

Regards Smith

I have a conversation going on with this joker. I'm pretenting to be a poor seller who doesn't know any better. My goal is to drag it on and waste as much of his time as possible. Here's the first email he sent me:

I recently have been approached by Rick Smith with the exact same wording as was stated in the two prior entries for him. I started getting suspicious early, so I have not received the "fake Paypal" email yet. Should I ignore him or tell him he's busted now?
by Bryon Williams Tue Jun 11, 2013 9:50 pm
Hello and welcome to Scamwarners bpwelch0917,

It is best just to post his email address and script then ignore him.

Just keep him wondering what has happened to you. Never inform a scammer he is busted. They will only attempt to get better.

Bryon

Oh yes, Victoria is still up to her wrong doings! However she's using the email [email protected] so she's simply changing part of her email address to keep things moving along.

Isn't there a national list somewhere that people can log the names or emails of the scammers for law enforcement to pursue?? I've been scammed twice this year, even with much research into each instance only to be held accountable for some jackass to get away with it.....it seems like no matter how careful we are, there's no protection when a fake check is cashed by a FEDERAL bank and when it gets returned only after the bank clears the funds......then when it's re-cleared by ?? the total funds get reversed and we get left used and screwed covering the damage to our accounts.

Shouldn't banks have some sort of insurance to protect their customers accounts? Also, isn't there a way to reverse search these email addresses?? I know I had to verify my information to start my email account, so why can't police figure out who's using an account an bust them??

Frustrated........
by Tami933us Fri Jun 14, 2013 7:02 am
FYI.....here's another one who's trying to pull the old I will pay extra with my fake cashiers check and you can pay my mover.....BS.

Going by : [email protected]

This one AND [email protected] both tried to take me on the same item, same day. They actually were bidding against each other to scam me! What kind of balls does that take? Fighting over a scam to victimize people who don't deserve the BS!

GRRRR!

THIS GUY RICK SMITH IS EVIL. HE TRIED THE CRAIG'S LIST SCAM WITH ME BUT GOD SPARED ME...

Beware of RICHARD DAVID ([email protected]) He is a scam and wanted me to send $500 via western union to a shipping company (IMPEDIMENT SHIPPING) which is not legit since he was in Costa Rica in the Marines! He would not call me when I asked and he sent fake PayPal emails stating the money was received but that it would not show in my account until they received the western union confirmation and my personal question & answer to my Paypal account! If you use PayPal like I do then you would know that PayPal would never send an email like that nor would they tell you to send money via western union!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch yourself when giving out any kind of information! I called Paypal and confirmed that is was indeed a scam and the lady said that they would transfer money to the shipping company via PayPal and that they would never use western union! If money has been transferred to your Paypal account it will appear immediately and show pending, it will never be hidden until you give them your personal info so, BEWARE!!!!!!

Welcome to ScamWarners Matthew06,

Yes, it was a scam attempt. The scammer was trying to steal your money.

PayPal will not pay the shipper unless you or the scammer sent money through PayPal to the fake shipper.

PayPal payments once logged in to the real Paypal account. Should say (Completed). If it show pending then you received an E-Check or the Paypal member is new and PayPal needs to verify their ID. Do not send anything until you see completed and the funds are available.

Also be on the look out for the scammer that wants to send you a fake check or money order. Once again he wants you to pay his mover, agent or shipper via Western Union or Money Gram.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.
