Hi all, this is what I sent to the scammer.......

Hi there, I see you said you are in Portamao, I have friends in San Louis who said they would be happy to meet up and sort the deal for the van with you if that's ok with you, I would fly over later and drive the van back over to uk, also it says the v5 is jan this year, is that when you bought the van, thanks, Paul

This is the reply I got of him......

Hello,

I live in Portimao, Portugal.Coming here would be a good idea but i can not promise you that i will still have it available when you will cam here.As i have over 3 interested buyers, some of them already accepted the third party deal and shipping to UK.I deal only trough Google Wallet services because i am very busy with my clients here in Portimao and i can't meet with everybody that wanna see my car. i hope you understand and agree with my terms. I assure you that this deal is legit and you don't have to worry about anything.

Thanks

The e-mail they are using is. [email protected]

.....he don't seem so keen now does he.....

Hi Robert,

I require details of the shipping company, port and agent to proceed.

You will have this on your consignment notice that you can scan and send.

There is nothing fraudulent that can be obtained by asking you for this, or on its receipt.

On my side, I'm sure you understand that there are those who would seek to scam the unsuspecting bargain-hunter.

Regards.

Chris

Sorry, we hve a deal so i can send you this details? As soon as google wallet confirm me your payment i will send you all the details you need. The only thing you need so you can run a full hpi check on the vehicle is the vehicle registration mark.I`ve been advised by autotrader not to give out sensitive vehicle information ( as v5 details ) .I am sorry but as i`ve been told there are lots of criminals out there asking for these details just to clone stolen cars.
Thank you for understanding

Have you a photo of the car in its current Portuguese location?

The photos you provide of the car clearly display the architecture of a UK suburban housing estate in the background.

Thanks in anticipation

Hello again,

Due to the fact that i am located outside UK and we can not deal in person,i`ve contacted Google Wallet regarding this issue and they told me that they could offer to me a program that is created especially for international transactions that protects both of us. They agreed to supervise this deal.
You will send the funds to Google Wallet and they will keep the money until you receive the vehicle and test it.In this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction. They will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. That is how their service is working. As far as the seller concerns, i will be glad to know that Google Wallet is in possession of the funds during the delivery period.
You will be given a 15 days inspection period from the day you receive the car at home( i will ship it to your address insured for full value to you ).
If you decide to keep the car, then you will have to authorize Google Wallet to release the funds to me, and the transaction is complete. If the vehicle is not as described ( perfect interior, exterior, mechanical condition ), you will be able to send the vehicle back through the same shipping company ( return postage at my expense ), and ask Google Wallet to return the money to you.

If you want to check the car here are the reg details #:

VRM: EN12CBU
VIN is WAUZZZ8XODB004365
Current mileage is 7560
V5 No. BW4219092
Issue date 22/06/12

If you want to read more about Google Wallet service please visit :

If you wish to purchase it and agree to these terms i will need you to provide your full name and address. I will then notify Google Wallet and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

I will be waiting for your reply as soon as possible

Thank You!!

Hello Robert,

Yes the deal seems too good to be true since cars over here with the same details are selling for much more.

So yes I've very interested indeed.

How can we take this further?

What is the well known company who would manage the sale?

Over to you!

Hello there,

I am glad to hear that you are interested to buy my 2012 AUDI A1 1.6 TDI S-Line 5dr Diesel Hatchback!I want to inform you that, after all the offers we received last days i decided to sell this car for 7,450 GBP (the price includes shipping to UK and insurance fees).Although I am registered in the UK,i recently moved to Portimao, Portugal (where my family is from) and the car is being shipped from here. I want to sell it in UK due to the fact that it's an UK version (right handed),it meets all UK standards.I bought this car from UK and It still has UK registration, so you won't have to pay any import and insurance fees. The car meets all United Kingdom guidelines so there will be no problem regarding UK Customs policy on receiving the car.The car is in perfect condition, the bodywork is immaculate,no scratches, dents or hidden defects as well as the interior in excellent non-smoking condition , never been implied in any accident and it is as advertised .The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, No finance. You will get from me the keys and all documents to register the car in your name.If the car is not how i described it, i will offer a full refund. It will be insured during transportation and will be delivered at your address in maximum 10 days.he price is low because the car is right hand drive in a country where all cars are left hand drive so in Portugal is very difficult to drive this type of vehicle and nobody wants to buy it here in Portugal.Instead of keeping it in garage (during this economical crisis), I decided to sell it to someone back in the UK for a really attractive price.
I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate, the deal will be manage by a well known company,in this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction.

Let me know if you need any further details or if you would like to buy my car.

Oh my god this has just happened to me...on autotrader a man that called himself Andrew beardsworth trying to sell a 2009 land range rover sport with 30000 miles on the clock for 9grand which like the others went up to 9400 when the shipping from Portomao,Portugal haha it was completely identical to all of yours I'm so angry I really wanted it to be true, unfortunately before I realised I was being scammed I gave out my full name and address so I really hope there's no comeback from this scumbag.his email address was [email protected]. Do scam warners report these scams to other people such as yahoo, autotrader and maybe the police should be aware.

This autotrader Google wallet scam seems fairly widespread. Their attempt on me followed almost identical lines as described below. I had time on my hands and responded to see what happened. The car was £10k cheaper than the going rate. Surely Autotrader can write in an alert to their software? Avoid buying anything from Portimao. Avoid [email protected].

Hiya,

Portimao - nice place, was there last year.

I'd like to pay £5000 total, as with any car transaction there's normally negotiation.

Sounds great, but also as you can imagine complicated and risky for me.

How would you plan to do it, as I wouldn't wire the full amount without insurances. I would offer 10% up front and rest on delivery with my word on it, if the car resembles what you say and isn't knackered engine wise I'd be happy, and wire rest no issues.

If not and its a scam fair play and its my own fault, lost £500 job done.

Let me know

Hi all, My names Mike and I have just come across this site while checking to make sure I wasn't being scammed because I showed interest in a car off auto trader.

The only difference being that even though the potential seller was out of the country the car was in the UK

Below is the mail trail I have :

Salma Davidson <[email protected]>
Apr 3 (2 days ago)

to me

Hello,

I received your message regarding my car 2005 Land Rover Defender XS Station Wagon Td5
The car, is in showroom condition, no accidents, no damage, scratches or dents. HPI clear, complete service records, the car is fully paid. It is registered to United Kingdom,REG:D10JMS, has 62,500 miles, mostly garage kept and babied. Mot paid until Nov 2013 and tax until Jan. 2014.
The price is not negotiable, £2900.00 firm.

Regarding the sale, i am selling it because i had to move back in Spain with work, i was unable to register it here as the fees are too high, being a UK model and specs but the car is in Portree, Highland, UK.
Because I am not in UK, we will use Google Wallet. Using their services it allows you as the buyer to receive the car first and also give you an inspection period of 7 days in which you can decline the sale if you are not satisfied. I trust they'll make this transaction secure for both of us by keeping the payment until you have received and inspected the car.

The shipping will be home delivery and insured. The car will be shipped on my expense, no extra costs for you.
Let me know if you`re still interested

Thank you very much
Salma Davidson.

I looked up where this PORTREE was, WOW how would I get there ??? Who would be living there ????
Maybe someone who worked offshore I said to myself. ?? Whats this Google Wallet ???

Thanks for the reply Salma I am really interested in the Defender but tried to find it on auto trader again without any luck. Please can you forward me any pictures you have and I will get back to you asap

to me

Hello again,

As i stated before the car is in Portree, Highland, UK. I can only deliver the car to your front door because I have moved to Spain and I am a petroleum engineer on a rig offshore I'm away most of the time, not much free time I will not be able to deal in person. I had pre-arranged the deal with Google Wallet so my presence is not necessary. The car is in their possession ready to be delivered. The car will arrive at your door in 2-4 days. As soon as the vehicle will be at your home, you will have 7 days to inspect and test drive the car. If you will not like the car 100% you will ship it back at my expense. I'm sure this will not happen because the car is in excellent condition. You will receive all the original documents and keys with the car. I signed all the paperwork and the clear title is ready to be transferred to the new owner.

The only way we can do this transaction is through Google Wallet because I want a smooth and safe transaction. You will have the chance to inspect the car before I will be paid.
If you are interested to buy my car, please send me your full name, shipping address and phone number so I can register the transaction with Google Wallet and they will reply you with more details and information about this transaction.
Thank you very much for your interest.
Salma Davidson

OK I think offshore worker moved away wants a quick sale, Can I be this lucky ??? I go to bed wondering.
Morning comes and I send them my Name, Delivery Address and Telephone number

I have looked at Google Wallet by this stage and asked them if this is normal, But NO response. So Lets see what Google wallet send when Salma gives them my details.

2 hours pass and I get a phone call from Salma asking if I have received anything from Google Wallet regards an invoice so the car can be shipped. This gave me the opportunity to ask for the exact location of the car and explained that I have relatives who live in Scotland not too far away from Portree and they will go and inspect the car on my behalf thus saving her the cost of getting the car to me in case I am not happy. She did not seem to like the fact that I wanted to save her money ????????? Apparently the car is in storage with Google Wallet and cannot be seen..... I then asked if we could use paypal as I have used this before without any problems ? Again I was told that she has a contract with Google Wallet for them to sell the car. I told Salma that I would have to look into Google Wallet and find out a little more about it. I did notice this morning when I was looking at setting up a LEGIT GOOGLE WALLET account that they only ask for a credit card to be attached to your account thus making a safe way of purchasing goods. However when I got home and logged on I got the following mails along with a picture of her passport. This girl is desperate to give me the deal of a lifetime!!!!!!

Hello
like i told we will use Google Wallet, so we can both be protected and insured. I am waiting for you to pay Google Wallet so i can start the shipping process and send the car at your place. The shipping is free i will take care of it and i will send the car with all the papers (title, vehicle registration, warranty papers, transfer papers etc ).
Thanks,
Salma

Banks are legally obliged to protect the public against the use of their accounts to perpetrate fraud and, if you refer to CIFAS, if they don't, they face punitive action by the regulatory authorities.

To judge by what's reported in these forums the system isn't working. In the circumstances injured parties are entitled to bring pressure to bear on the appropriate authorities, being the police (the office of local police commissioner being an elected office now), MP's and the FOS.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
