Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Thank you guys for your great advice - i posted my motorbike yesterday on Gumtree and received exactly the same response as some of you. I could then block his contact info on my iphone and saved the time and BS in dealer with the scammer.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR YOUR TIME TO POST ON HERE.

Hi guys,
i received an email from Neil Robbie who emailed me about buying my car. For a second there i got so excited because i thought "wow, that was quick!"

I responded to his original question about what was the lowest price i would sell my car for and then he responded with:

"ok no problem i will be paying you $11,000 with my PayPal account because it's
attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make
payment. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your paypal
email address,(Paypal ID) or send me paypal payment request so i can
pay in right
away. Make sure you get back to me so that i can make the payment. I
have a private courier agent that will handle the shipping after
payments has been made, so no shipping included. OR better still you
can just send me your bank account details and the payment will be
made into your bank account asap.
And if you dont have a paypal account, you can easily go to
www.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy. i will call you later
I await your reply asap you can consider it sold and you can remove
the add. and tell others interested that its sold.

Due to the nature of my job and my location i will not be able to come
for inspection am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i
don't really think i need to come for a look, because i have gone
through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it so i will call
you when am chanced from work but as of now we can be chatting online
or sending emails."

I thought it was so wierd that he didn't even want to inspect the car first! I'm very happy i googled his name first! I guess that's one good thing about the interent...we can google everything :)

I did provide my bank account details to him though when i responded to his email. I told him he is more than welcome to transfer money to my account and that once my bank cleared the funds as legitimate i would then need to organise to meet him in person. What's the worse that can happen? Can he transfer "fake" money to my account??? Should i call the police???

He is using the name neilrobbie4503 now. If a buyer sounds dodgy it's best to google their email address.
Seems like these guys are based in China and are targeting Gumtree.
For them it's like fishing; they send out thousands of emails and eventually they get a bite.
Don't get caught!
