Hey the same person tried to scam me today 13/03/2013
I replied to an advert for a caravan at Caravansforsale.co.uk
I Asked for photos of the caravan and I received the reply below a few hours later
Knowing straight away it was a scam I thought I would have a bit of fun lol and told her to send me the ebay buy it now listing
which she did see as I expected it was a scam
Ive just emailed her again asking for more photos of the caravan before I commit to buy

Think my next step will be to tell her I was just about to deposit the money into her bank account when I was knocked over by a bus and need to borrow £1,000 to pay my medical bill but will pay her back with interest once I get out of hospital later today

I spotted a similar vow transporter frauds on eBay although using different names same MO and surprise surprise they both where using Barclays accounts to launder their stolen money. Surely the bank must have a duty of care to act !

We fell victim to this scam too. Responded to advert for vw twin cab on autotrader at the end of jan 13. Sarah Hudson sent us the exact same same e mail you printed and we followed the link to ebay. Like you we thought it was perfectly safe as we thought we were protected by ebays purchase protection. HSBC wired the transfer to the barclays account. Everything looked absolutely normal. It was only later that our suspicions were aroused that we looked into it and sarah@exomuk came up on this scam site. We immediately contacted the police and even they said they were sure it was all cosher but it certainly wasn't. We contacted our bank who said there was nothing we could do as we had authorised the transaction. We were gutted . £5990 - our savings, gone!! We couldn't believe we'd fallen victim to this scam. We felt foolish for our haste and isolated as no one seemed to be able to help.
Our saving grace was that barclays fraud team actually stopped the transaction as it had looked suspicious and contacted our banks fraud section to check we had authorised it. We explained we had but had since discovered that it was fraudulent at which time their account was frozen. Our bank then issued an indemnity notice to barclays to try and recoup our money.We had to wait an agonising 30 days for them to let us know if we were to get the full amount back. All they could say was that there were funds in the frozen account but that could mean a penny or all the cash. It was only last week that we learned we were to get the full amount back . Hope your story has a similar ending huffy. We felt very lucky to get it back as both barclays and HSBC had told us it was a lost course. If you do catch up with Sarah drop us a line as we'll join you for the public flogging. These people are evil

I have just been done by this B*****d. I fell victim in the exact same way. I saw an add for a VW T5, white 29000 on the clock, on van trader. After exchanging a couple of emails, she/he directed me to a ebay, so to provide me with protection. This is very clever as they had me on side straight away. My first thought was, whats the worst that can happen, my moneys always safe with ebay. If only it really was ebay. They have got me for £5300. I have reported it to ''action fraud'' as i hope you all have and my bank, but im not holding my breath that i will ever see my money again. I really hope the person(s) responsible get whats coming to them. I will keep updating as i hear from the bank and if i hear back from ''action fraud''

Welcome nathans5799 and Tamps, Sorry to hear about your experiences with these scammers. Tamps that is wonderful that your bank caught it in time. That does not happen often enough.

Nathans5799, did you report it to your bank and to your local law enforcement? While the police won't be able to do anything because it is out of their jurisdiction, it is good to have a record of the crime.

Please post up any emails and contact information you have from the scammers. Please post full headers on the emails, but take out your own personal information. Also are there any other websites associated with the scam?
