Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Just a day ago I posted an ad on CL for a sublet and was contacted by a Hannah Naji, who sent me this text from the number 213-537-9718:
HELLOOOOOOO!!, IS THE sublet AVAILABLE ? E-mail me at: [email protected] so that i can respond with questions

I just realized the purpose of that is probably to bypass Craigslist's spam filters. Anyway, I emailed her, and the response was identical to the message from Mary Morgan.

Am I right that the scam would involve the 'payment down'?

Welcome to ScamWarners OnlineHandle, yes, it is a scam. Scammer use a script because they are lazy thieves. They send out hundreds of emails a day trying to snag someone. They will even steal scripts from other scammers.

It is best to just drop them and move on to someone who is real. Yes, they would have sent you a check for more than you are asking and instructed you to deposit the check and return the overage to them. The problem is, the check is a forgery and you would be liable for the bad check once it doesn't clear. You could even face criminal charges.

We recommend searching the text of emails to see if others have received the same script. You can search it here or on google.
