Google Wallet is a phone App to enable you to pay your bills in shops etc. It is not a escrow servie and the Link the scammer uses to explain to you is to a false website to help scam people. The real Google Wallet only stores your card details. It does NOT handle or guarantee money in any shape or form.

The link http://google.wallet-inc-uk.com/Virtual-Wallet.Online-Shopping.Business.index.html has nothing to with Google in any way . Google could actually shut this site down because it uses their trademark and reputation. Here is the proper link and as you see the fake page is not there. http://www.google.com/wallet/index.html

I fell victim to this fraud. Fortunately I got my money back through the hard work of my bank and the action fraud website.

Report it immediately and keep on it.

"Hello again,

Due to the fact that i am located outside UK and we can not deal in person,i`ve contacted Google Wallet regarding this issue and they told me that they could offer to me a program that is created especially for international transactions that protects both of us.
Regarding the transaction, you will send the funds to Google Wallet and they will keep the money until you receive the vehicle and test it.In this way both buyer and seller are 100% covered during the steps of this transaction.Google Wallet will hold and insure your money until receipt of the car in good condition. That is how their service is working. As far as the seller concerns, i will be glad to know that Google Wallet is in possession of the funds during the delivery period.
You will be given a 15 days inspection period from the day you receive the car at home( i will ship it to your address insured for full value to you ).
If you decide to keep the car, then you will have to authorize Google Wallet to release the funds to me, and the transaction is complete. If the vehicle is not as described ( perfect interior, exterior, mechanical condition ), you will be able to send the vehicle back through the same shipping company ( return postage at my expense ), and ask Google Wallet to return the money to you. Though i am sure you will love the car and will not want to return it, it is good to know that you do have this second option available.

If you want to read more about Google Wallet service please visit :

If you want to get more info about their terms and condition please contact Google Wallet using the blue button from the web site.

If you want to check the car here are the reg details:

UK Registration: EU58 KRK
VIN # CHASSIS: SALFA23B58H105008
39,000 Miles
MOT and Road tax until Oct 2013

If you wish to purchase it and agree to these terms i will need you to provide your full name and address. I will then notify Google Wallet and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

I will be waiting for your reply as soon as possible

Thank you in advance!"

a word for word email response from portugal ????

Once she replied that she was suspicious , she got another reply with some of the same wording as the one already posted in this thread .

"Hello,

Coming here would be a good idea but i can not promise you that i will still have it available until then. Please understand me but i have another 2 interested buyers.I must tell you that I will sell this car to the first interested buyer who will agree with the buy it now price set and payment confirmed with Google.
If you are so suspicious about this transaction I would rather close this deal with other person than to know that you'll be very stressed hoping that I am a honest person, until you receive your car.Your peace of mind is a lot more important than this deal!!! I didn't ask you to send me the money,I wanted you to to send the money to Google Wallet and they will hold the money. They are the best guarantee that you get anywhere. If you decide not to go through with it there is no problem.I got quite a few offers left. Get back to me and let me know what you decide. Thank you for your time and interest.Whatever you decide I wish you good luck.
Sincerely,"

i just felt i would share this info so as anyone getting the same response knows to be wary .

regards

Hi recently after searching for a car I saw the perfect one in autotrader and contacted the seller after many emails I really thought this was a legal car for sale and started the route for purchase, my husband did have his doubts but I convinced him it was all okay, the emails were flowing she was in Portugal and the car would be shipped over at their expense she asked for my details ie name and address which I sent and immediately I received a invoice from autotrader and google wallet confirming all details that convinced me that autotrader and google wallet worked together she also sent me a link to google wallet which looked like a legitimate site, I checked google wallet on the internet and there was such a thing as google wallet, I was convinced this was not a scam, and after trying to send 5,200 via my bank and being told this could not be sent in one transaction I was desperate to get this organised, emails kept arriving saying there were plenty of other buyers waiting and if payment could not be organised for that day they would offer it to the next person I was frantic I really was that hooked on this car and was trying different ways to get the money transferred it was only when someone at the bank said to me had I checked with autotrader about google wallet that I realised I hadn't thought of that, one call to them made me realise this was a scam they warned me not to send any money as they did not support google wallet at all. I was in total shock I was so near to losing the money we had worked so hard for to a callous thief. The car was a Nissan Quashqi 11 plate with 33000 miles on the clock and a price of 5200 it was really to good to be true. I sent all emails to autotrader I hope they investigate this and put something on their website about this but I haven't seen anything so far so beware they are still selling and still scamming. My motto from now is if it sounds to good to be true it's not
Take care

Young athwart was there a link to a site that you did not post? Or did the scammer know the fake site was dead and omit to give a link.
http://google.wallet-inc-uk.com/Virtual ... index.html has been killed. If you check the Google Wallet website and read carefully you will see that it only saves card details for easy use when shopping. It is a Mobile phone app that will link to the till when you go and pay.It does not do escrow.
Th point is if you want to sell an expensive car you DO NOT SHIP IT OFF TO AN UNKNOWN PERSON OVERSEAS AND GIVE THEM THE KEYS. It is just not real.
If you decide to keep the car, then you will have to authorize Google Wallet to release the funds to me

Ha Ha! Very funny and even if true and it is not, it is giving a car away. :=)
Consider this.
Car sent to A (cost £500) who drives it around for 2 days for free and then says he does not like it. Sends it back (cost £500). Sends car to B (cost £500) . He scorches it down the motorway at 180 mph for a day then sends it back (cost £500). C is different (cost £500). He wants the car and drives it to Russia and sells it, and doesn't authorise any payment at all.
That is not an entirely invented cost but not telling scammer anymore about it. It becomes ridiculous.
All the sites have fraud warnings so heed them but given the number of frauds around it can't list them all.

same shipping company ( return postage at my expense ),

Somehow I do not think a car will fit into a post office bag. :laugh-s: The scammer is also running various parcel scams and ommitted to edit the text correctly. The fraud clue was there all the time.
Consider the documents question. You get the papers along with the vehicle? Sellers Madness!! If not- when and how? Do any papers actually exist for the vehicle or was it stolen from someone in the next city?

Google Checkout was replaced by Google Wallet on September 19, 2011, which is seen as a better competitor to PayPal.

It would seem reasonable to be suspicious of anyone sending emails from [email protected] or gmail. For most people there should not be a problem to use an email address provided by their Internet Service Provider or one which does not hide the IP number in headers, and you can google that also to see if it is a proxy. Always check addresses with Google maps. Do searches for texts sent to you.
You can read more about this scam here. Same text

back through the same shipping company ( return postage at my expense ), and ask

I am currently in contact with 'Gary Rothery' re. purchasing a BMW X5. Can anyone let me know who I can contact to get this person stopped. I can send the emails and links that the person has sent me. We did a DVLA check on the car and everything was good, it was only when my husband said to google 'Gary Rothery' that we found this site. Very relieved that we did.

Hello jacko.I wish we could stop them but sadly they are probably in Africa or Malaysia and unreachable. The best to do is to post the stuff here to warn others, and also emaul headers too. Were there any links to a fake escrow or even a paypal site &c &c, because they like to clone legit sites and attempt to misinform victims? We get these shut down so scammers have to start all over again and it wastes their stolen money and time. I am glad postings here stopped you losing money and so adding your own parts does make a difference, and you know you also contribute to warning others which is really the best way.

This is the email that was sent with the fake Google Wallet link...

Hello again,

I want to inform you the the car is in Portugal and it will be shipped from here to UK.The shipper I will use will deliver the vehicle to your door, you don't have to pick it from the port. Shipping will take 10 days maximum.

I bought this car from UK and it is still registered there so you don't have to pay any import taxes or any other fees. The car comes with log book, HPI cleared, No finance.
You will get from me the keys, V5 document, manuals and all documents to register the car in your name. You don't have to worry about anything.

If you wish to purchase it and agree to these terms i will need you to provide your full name and address. I will then notify Google Wallet and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.

I will be waiting for your reply as soon as possible

Thank you in advance
