A further response from [email protected]

Thanks a lot for getting back to me, i really do appreciate your swift response, Really i would be very glad to buy the car from you,and The price and condition is okay by me . Right now I'm going to issue the banker's draft of £6,000 in your name and you'll send the excess funds to my shippers via western union,so that they can come for the pick up at your location,I ll provide you with my shipping company's details for the remainder of the money so that you can send the money once the draft HAS BEEN FULLY CLEARED AND CONFIRMED IN YOUR ACCOUNT.Also I will be giving £100 for your (efforts and western union fees) all i need is your assurance that you will be able to handle everything the same day that the draft gets CLEARED in your bank, and you promise that you are not going to sell the car to another buyer because it's what i have been wanting. Here are the details that would be needed to send the draft out to you:YOUR FULL NAME.....YOUR FULL ADDRESS..PHONE NUMBERS(LAND AND MOBILE)Patrick Regards.+447045752213

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Luke,
Ya a scam of some kind, he doesn't need your paypal email address all you would need
to do is send an invoice requesting money from him if he pay's it fine then he gets the bike
However your paypal email address is also your login name which is one part of the puzzle
to login to your account then all they would need is your password to access your account. :)

removed spam link.

He's not trying to phish a paypal account. This is another very standard scam.

He wants the paypal address so he can send a fake paypal email, claiming the money has been paid but is on hold until the shipper is paid. It's easier for him to just send the email than to deal with an invoice.

Looks like he changed his name to Happy Williams. Selling my van and got the same reply as above except it's for his uncle. Awe....
additional info: first reply to ad was from [email protected] then he responded using [email protected].

Advice to people out there, don't post adds using the email address you use with your paypal account or any banking for that matter. It gives him/her that much more info to gain access to your money.

Interesting site...I checked out the same e-mailers named above who replied to my ad in AutoTrader and wanted to pay via pay pal. I'm more suspicious and cautious than most people so didn't fall for the scam but it opened my eyes to a scam I had never heard of before. Thanks for posting the details which were almost exactly what the scammer sent me.

He posts his name as mark smith, saying he is an marine engineer overseas. He also states that he cannot send any money through other means, due to the fact of some 'Special effects'.
#blam#'ing idiot, if he wanted to scam me, then he could of wrote his fact paypal account in the correct grammar...
Tried to buy my bass and amp, p***ed me off i took the page down...

Michael Seay tried scamming me using the following email address [email protected]

Posted an ad on gumtree.com.au selling a car. Received a text message on my phone that same night from someone called 'Paul' asking what the lowest price for the car is and to reply to him at the above email. There wasn't a return phone number. I replied the next day telling him the price and my address so he could inspect the vehicle, to which he replied with the following email:

"thanks for mailing back, I'm ok with the price and the
condition, I'm buying it for my vacation, because i'll be coming
soon from our rig as a mechanical engineer on a rig
offshore,i won't be able to come for the inspection due to
the nature of my work,i would have love to call you in person
but our satellite server has been down which restrict our
calls.i will be paying you through PayPal,pls get back to me
with you PayPal details so i can proceed with the payment
and contact the courier agent who will come to pick it up
and deliver it to my place.
Await your reply"

Just so everyone knows that this person is still active

I'm selling some holiday accommodation on ebay and I have received two emails this morning:

From Mark Smith - [email protected]

I put an advert on Gumtree in the UK looking for work as a cleaner. I have received a reply from [email protected]. I was a little suspicious, so I asked for further details and a phone number. He replied asking for my email address and I decided to google his email address, and I am glad I did. He is obviously looking for my private email address, which he won't get thanks to this site and people who have the goodwill to warn others.

Another email address being used, which does not come up as a scam address is [email protected]. I do not know how to put this out there for anyone to find easily, so if someone can do this I would be grateful.

I will also report this to Gumtree to make sure they are aware of this.

'Andrew Smith' contacted me also after advertising my car on ebay. He asked if it was still for sale and wanted to pay via paypal and arrange to collect it. I have had other scams contacting me about my car so wanted to double check it and saw the info on here. Thanks.

He's still at it... in my case he called himself 'Scott Malan', email [email protected]

I get the same crap as you guys:

Ok,good..I'm quite satisfied with the condition and price. I will be paying the PayPal charges from my account and i will be paying directly into your PayPal account without any delay, and i hope you have a paypal account. If you have one already, just send me the address to send it to, which is the email address you use for it or you can send me a paypal money request, so once i receive the details i will go ahead with the payment through PayPal and then i will contact my shipping company after you get the payment. I will need your home address for it to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..

So now I'm playing a bit with him. I just raised the price of my product to make it more market conform... however for all other people out there, RUN AWAY FROM THIS GUY! Don't answer anything. It's just bad carma...

Welcome to ScamWarners zeilvakantie. We do not recommend or support messing with scammers like you are doing. The biggest concern is the scammer has your real life information, and scammers have been known to make people's life difficult when they don't get what they want.

Most don't, they just want money, but to me it is not worth the risk. Drop him and go visit our sister site www.419eater.com and learn how to mess with scammers safely.

It is quite easy to spot as grammar and spelling are terrible but they do send emails that people could respond to as they threaten police action. The paypal email have the correct logo's and look ok to the novice.Below is the text that he sent me the other day:

"WHY THE SILENT!!!! OR I WILL REPORT YOU TO THE POLICE?
I just wanted to let you know I am totally disappointed with your
attitude. It's 1 day after the payment has been made. I want you to
confirm that you've indeed received the payment confirmation.
i know you should have received the confirmation messages from pay pal by now so make sure you check your
in-box folder and junk folder message folder for the confirmation
email cos i have received the receipt here I wonder
why you have decided to stop writing me ever since you have gotten the
payment confirmation.I explained earlier to you about the problem i
had with the pick up agent. I hope you do not intend to steal from me
by keeping mute.I need a detailed confirmation of the transfer of the
funds you have sent to my agent at once. Here is my pick up
agent Headquarter info needed to get the money sent through western
union money transfer:

Name:Urieto Johnson Ose
Address:12 Ring Road Ibadan,
Oyo state,
23402.
Nigeria.

I will need the details of the transfer once you have sent fund so i
can forward to paypal . . .

1.The MTCN number that is the 10 digits number on the Western Union receipt
2.Sender's name and address used in sending the money
3.Actual amount sent.
4.Question and answer.

Regards
Mark"
