Craigslist scammer actually wants your merchandise.

The scammer sends very elaborate and convincing mails with Paypal Logo's.

The Scammer will send email that appears to be from Paypal asking you to send a shipping number before your funds can be released to your Paypal account.

1st contact with the seller is similar to "is this still up to sell" or "is this item still available".

In this case the scammer is using a free mail.com address to pose as Paypal.The scammer also sends the address where the victim should send his merchandise.

Here is one I got myself today. The original email was an email from Craigslist to me asking if I still had it for sale. It came from a Gmail account From: Justin Andrew <[email protected]>. I responded yes i do...then I get this message from Rocketmail.

The email you received is definitely a scam script. Your scammer buyer pretends to be a Flight Doctor. A US Doctor in the Military or Civilian would have many years of higher education. The grammar would be articulate.

Stop communication with the scammer and do not alert him that he has been posted here.

This scammer now is operating the 3rd party shipper in his scam. There is no shipper. He is the scammer and shipper with different email addresses or names. Do not send monies via Western Union or Moneygram. You will not ever recover your monies.

Adding more new emails addresses given to me. Gang of scammers targeting craigslist with fake paypal payments. The paypal emails and screenshot will look real but are fake. Paypal will not hold your fund until you show proof of shipping. Log into paypal directly not using any links. Check your balance. Call paypal using their number provided on the true paypal site if in doubt. The scammer may want you to send an overpayment to his shipper. The shipper and his emails are from the same gang of scammers. Some cases the scammer actually wants to steal your item.

office(USPS registered mail) and make sure you insured it before you

The scammer now wants you to send money to the shipper. The shipper (fake) may or may not know they are working for a scammer. In this scam the scammer does not want your item. He wants your money.

This scammer is most cases does not want your items. Cars, Furniture or Watercraft's he want you to send over payment money to a third party shipper / agent who is the scammer or part of the gang. Smaller items electronics, cell phones and jewelry he wants. He will send you a fake Paypal payment telling you that a payment has been made.

The Paypal email will look real but it is not. He then will tell you that in order for your money to be released. You must provide a tracking number to paypal / agent in order for your money to be released. Paypal will not hold your money. Always log into Paypal directly not using any links provided to check money received. Log into Paypal get the code and call a rep.

I sent an E-mail with a Whoreadme and apparently this scammer is using a blackberry or other mobile because I never received a report. Because it's a G-mail I can't get a good IP either. I did get an area code 702 (Nevada) phone number and a name and address of a possible mule which I will clip.

My first E-mail and Cinna's reply:

from headquarters of the shipping company that will come for the
pickup for at your place here in united states, that i need to pay a
total commission of about $550 to them before the pickup can be
registered and it should be paid via western union only and there is
no western union outlet at my present location to send the money to
them over here as I'm at the military base.This is to notify you that
I will be transferring your money shortly. I will also be adding the
shippers money to the total amount I am sending. So, I implore you to
proceed to any Western Union Money Transfer outlet and have the excess
funds transferred to the shipper's information asap via Western Union
Money Transfer and get back to paypal via email with the transfer
details so that paypal can complete the full processing of your money
into your account after all transaction data (Western Union Money
Transfer details) is confirmed by paypal. As an added security
measure, paypal will also confirm my shipper's identity to you on the
payment confirmation page that you will receive in your paypal email
address as soon as I have your money Transferred.

Notice how they'll say "item" instead of the actual product. Most of the texts I've received used the Craigslist ad title and will just say "is the item still for sale" but they never say for example "is the laptop still available?"
