Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by vebriansi Thu Jun 30, 2011 3:34 am
hi everybody!!.I don't know this is a scam or not.i'm interested in being an au pair.i registered to a website and then i found a family.i sent a message and they gave me positive response. If families give a positive response and they're premium member we'll get their email and mobile number.I sent an email to him.and then he replied

family email : hc.winckler@googlemail

1st email
hi christine,
i had 1 year ago a girl from djakarta and we are still friends and wehad the very good relationsship.Thze name was Banon.you can talk toher in case its needed.she was muslim. but before let me you muslin or christian.did you pass the exam for a1level at goethe institute or whereever? when coul you be here.the procedure takes in toal 8 weeks when youhave all papers. are these prepared. are you aware of the procedure?
greeting from Hamburg
christoph

2nd email
my dear christine,
when you have the passed a1 exam then you will get for sure a goodchance to come to germny! when you have the certificate, you have to know what kind of papers arerequired, then you can go ahead quickly with the letter of invitation. All my best write me beg/mid of september what has happenened in between.
Christoph

we emailed several times.we talked about Liz(his daughter).
i always search information about family on internet.i found a site which has the same name with this email.it's hc winckler trading.i assume this is him as he also told me about his family and his job. i also searched this email on facebook.i found an account with this email.but its name isnt not Christoph WInckler. It's Peter Maier.I found it strange.i asked him whether he had a facebook account. He said no facebook account. Then finally i traced his ip address.i found out it's located in United State. Now i'm really confused whether this family does exist or not.

To be noticed,he's not talking about travel agent or send him money.i told him about my curiosity.and i will feel bad if he doesn't lie.

please help me and sorry for the bad spelling.

Hello vebriansi, and welcome to ScamWarners.

Christoph is writing to you from a Googlemail (Gmail) account, and therefore the IP address will be Gmail's own (USA) IP address, and not Christoph's IP address.

There are no typical signs of a scam at this point. Please, however, do check with the German Embassy or Consulate in your own country whether you are eligible to become an au pair in Germany, and exactly what is required - then you will be able to verify that Christoph is following the correct procedure.

The Peter Maier connection is without explanation at the moment - so I would suggest, for your own peace of mind, that you ask him directly about this.

And, of course, never send any money on the instruction of a potential host family, nor on the instruction of anyone who they have put you in contact with.

yes i need a1 certificate to being an au pair in Germany.Bout the email, i already asked him.But he said, he didn't have facebook account. That's why i feel confused.
Maybe i have to communicate with him to get more information about him and his family.
thanks for the advise :D

Hi vebriansi,
if he is a scammer, asking him about his family will not help; he has his story prepared. Instead, you could ask him details about Hamburg.

Tell him once you met a tourist from Hamburg and he mentioned these things!

- Will he take you to see the Michel?
- How does he prepare the famous Alsterwasser?
- Do they have Labskaus in his family?
- Do they have Snuten und Pouten?
- Do members of his family greet each other with "Hummel Hummel - Moin Moin"?

If he is indeed in Hamburg, he will tell you with his own words.
If he is a scammer and tries and Googles these things - good luck! we can find out if it is a copy-and-paste job.

Come back with his answers, and I'll check.

If he is genuine he will not be offended that you took these precautions.

he doesn't reply my email since the last email.so, i can't ask him those questions.
Maybe i should try another family. He already said that he wanted to send me invitation letter.but, what else i can do.it seems that my questions about facebook and another suspicious things annoyed him. :(

Aren't you proud you found out he was a scammer? Well done! :=)
Come back and ask us when you get another suscpicious offer. We will be glad to help.

anyway, are you sure he's a scammer?because i haven't asked him bout the hamburg things yet. :laugh-s:
like u said, if he's genuine why he's offended.but i seldom meet fake family becoming premium member. :laugh-s:

Hi vebriansi,

I am confused about your reply to the support team members who are trying to guide you in your quest. On your first post you wrote:
vebriansi wrote:hi everybody!!.I don't know this is a scam or not.

You also wrote this:
please help me

Chris Fuller then responded to you and gave you some advice to make sure you know the legalities of being an au pair in another country.

You then asked other questions and Katherina offered other help regarding finding further information which is very likely to help you sort out the situation as you requested in your first post.

You indicate that you have not been in contact with this person and that you believe asking specific questions scared them off. Often a scammer will be scared off by specific questions being asked because they want to get to your money, not answer questions.

Katherina was responding to the information you gave. We do not know the website you are using and how the Premium Membership works on that site. You are free to have your opinion and continue to contact who ever you want to contact.

You asked questions and those questions were answered based on the information you provided. We cannot read the motivations of the family you were in contact with. We can only go by what you post to determine your motivations. I am now confused as to what you want from us here.

Will you please clarify?

hi Bubbles,sorry if i confused u. :D

i use this website http://www.aupairworld.net.

this is how premium membership works.
we can be premium membership if we pay.if we're premium membership then we can see information such as email and telephone number of people who r au pair or family.
example : i am premium membership as an au pair.then i search for family and contact them.au pair world will send the family email about me contacting them.if they're intersted in me then they will say they're interested in me and give their positive response like this.\
