Scams offering fake Au Pair positions

That would be great if you could send your CV. Do you have Skype? If so
perhaps we could arrange a video call.

Just to give you a bit more background about us, Lexie is at school from
8.40am to 3.00pm, Sharon is a Freelance Trainer and works 10 - 15 days a
month, either away or at home, and I am a Director of an office services
company, mostly working from home.

We need help in getting Lexie ready for school, taking and collecting her
and also caring for her for 2 hours after school. In the school holidays we
will need additional help depending on our workloads.

In the evenings we mainly stay in (with a bottle of wine!) but occasional
babysitting will be required. Our house is a large 4 bedroom detached
property with a garden and your room is a large double with WIFI, TV & DVD.
You will mostly have sole use of the family bathroom, as we have an en-suite
and there is also a car & petrol for you to use.

Our current au-pair, Mirjam, is our first and we have really enjoyed the
experience, she has also. She has become a real part of our family which is
very important to us. As mentioned before I would suggest at some stage you
talk/email her.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Take care

Hello Helen, could you please post the email address also, and if possible the Headers from his email?

If you could let us know what email you use, we can help find the header, which will tell us where he is.

Thank you

John

I can't find any David Elphick that corresponds to the information in your first post.

If you use hotmail, open his email, click the down arrow beside *reply* and click *show message source*
copy /paste the top of the page that opens, down to the *to* address in here.

I have doubts about this being a legitimate opportunity.

Hello HELEN17,

The English language in that email is quite natural, and not showing typical signs of a scammer.

However, please familiarise yourself with the normal duties, regulations, pocket money etc for an au pair in the UK. These can be found on most au pair agency websites; this one has quite a clear explanation:

Au Pair in the United Kingdom

And, remember, no genuine family will ask you to contact a travel agency, the UK Border Agency, or a lawyer to arrange for a visa or a work permit, nor for national insurance, health insurance, tax clearance certificates, nor any other document. A tax clearance certificate is not required for in the UK. You do not need a national insurance number to be an au pair. A European citizen will be covered for emergency medical treatment by their EU Health Card, and if any additional health insurance is wished for, you will arrange it yourself in your own country.

And, most importantly, no genuine family will ask you to send any money, for whatever reason, through a money transfer service (eg Western Union, MoneyGram, Coinstar/CMT), not even to yourself, or to a friend or relative.
