What's new in the world of scams and ScamWarners.

We have received a request from a Hawaiian television station. This is the request:

I am interested in doing an investigative story on online "Romance Scammers." (For example, people who go to match.com and get preyed upon by scammers looking for money, assistance or to do ill will.)

I am hoping you can help me with connections, victims and/or stories in my area. If you have any other contacts or resources you would recommend, that would also be greatly appreciated.

I understand that anonymity is of utmost importance for the safety and security of the people who are being scammed. I would be more than willing to work under those terms if it meant I could show our viewers that this, indeed, is affecting people here too.

If you are interested in sharing your story, please pm me. If you could also tell me your first name, and where you are from (country is fine, no address needed), I can pass that information on to the person doing the story. If possible, they would prefer to include a local aspect to the story, so if anyone here is from Hawaii or their scammer used photos of a Hawaiian model please make sure you include that information.

Hi Dotti,
My name is Cathy. I was approached by 4 scammers. Two are still talking marriage and of course asking for money they will never get. Even after accusing the one he just does not go away.
Feel free to email me.

It's probably not for me to mention someone, but dustygirl was very brave in mentioning her story and how it affected her whole family, and she may miss this request.

The way it can tear a family apart, aside from the financial and emotional harm, is something that can be overlooked.
