Hi, i have been talking to this guy for a while now..We met on an online dating site, after a few emails, we started chatting on yahoo messenger...he seemed very real and very genuine.
He says he is in the army and is based in Afghan. All of that seemed above board, his pictures also supported this.
This is what he used in his about me profile

Name: Militaryheart
Hobbies: Military heart seeking forever love !
Occupation: Military Personnel
Ethnicity: White / Caucasian
Orientation: Straight
Gender: Male

Religion: Christian - other
Zodiac: Aries
Relationship: Single

Intro: Describing one's self in a paragraph isn't easy....I would say I'm a nice, reasonably attractive, self sufficient, hard working, loyal person.I'm easy going, not materialistic, and i enjoy life's simple pleasures.......am seeking someone with a sense of humor, honest, caring and really need someone to be my soulmate. Nearing the end of one career, looking to the future, more time for myself and for a new family.I don't know what my perfect match would be I want honesty and trust, fun loving and outgoing, loves children and understands the demands they place in life Ive been a single for years A few things to get out of the way first (in no particular order): * Employed * Own my own home (Not with the mortgage company) * No drugs * Not a player * Emotionally available (Very Romantic) * Not looking for one-night stands I am of the believe that Love is not all about what you see...But what you can make there off. I believe life is so short and the little while we have should be spent wisely else we would be asked how we did before God one day, Love is like magic And it always will be. For love still remains Life's sweet mystery!!! Love works in ways That are wondrous and strange And there's nothing in life That love cannot change!!!... Love can transform The most commonplace Into beauty and splendor And sweetness and grace. Love is unselfish, Understanding and kind, For it sees with its heart And not with its mind!! Love is the answer......

Interested In: About my match I am looking for someone serious and ready to have an open heart, someone that's very humble and seek a long a long last relationship...I do believe in true love, and people tend to be so much engrossed with their situation that they cant

I would very much appreciate any help with this..if anyone else has had any contact from this guy.
I have recently been asked to send money to the DoD and was given email addresses to contact the Lt who apparently deals with leave. I was told that a soldier is not allowed to pay for their own leave..but im from the UK and i dont know how the US army work. This guy has sent me flowers, chocolates, balloons, teddy bears, all courtesy of interflora. So i did believe him to be real until i was asked for money..thats when i became suspicious

Unfortunately, there is no doubt he is a scammer if he asked you for money for leave. The profile is standard copy/paste fare, which means most of it isn't his own writing, but if you post (or pm) some of his emails and/or chats (if chats pm would be better) I'm sure I can also point out several African mistakes. In the meantime, look at this one quick google search on one line of his profile. If you right click the search below and open in new tab or new window, you can view without leaving scamwarners.
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Nearing+the+end+of+one+career,+looking+to+the+future%22&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=A6E&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&filter=0

As you were told, an American soldier does not pay for leave! Leave does not cost anything, and it CANNOT be bought. There are no fees--if they are entitled to leave based on service time, and their superiors agree with the timing of their leave, leave will be granted, and the military will even provide them with transportation home, at NO COST to them. If they are not entitled to leave or the timing is not appropriate, their superiors won't approve leave, and they cannot overturn the decision by paying fees, finding replacements, or anything else of the kind.

BTW, scammers almost never pay for any gifts with their own money--they do, however, send items to victims purchased with stolen/phished credit cards, or stolen business accounts. In other words, he bought those items using an innocent party's stolen or phished credit card, another victim's credit card, or a stolen/phished teleflora account (either a business account or a personal login that is already tied to a credit card or paypal account, etc).

Yep, we have standard African mistakes, as expected. Expect a private message from me shortly, as I don't want to help any scammers by pointing out mistakes where they can learn from them.
