It is not unusual for some scammers to target gay men as well as straight women, but, of course, they don't just target people who are desperate for companionship, but also people who already have full lives, but are also looking for someone special to add to it. They may sometimes target a certain age range, but, apart from that, it can be quite random who they write to - they don't spend much (if any!) time reading people's profiles.
