Information on romance scams and scammers.

I have been approached or "invited" to be friends with individuals who seem at first sincere and later they open up to me and then the form letters promising me love and romance, over time I have noticed a pattern that leads to an endless chain of letters seeking only to guilt trip me into giving up my money. A technique I came up with is to notice how emotionally affectionate they are in their letter, then I just google that part of the letter, for example, "My interpretation of a friend is one to whom you can pour out all the contents of your heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentleness of hands will take it all, sift it, keep that which is worth keeping and, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away. I thank you in advance for allowing me to Be that kind of friend to you." This paragraph will appear in any search that has be requested based on the keywords in that statement and if it should appear in your search chances are that letter has been used by more than one scammer they will change it by adding personal items like name, family members or intimate details i.e. I love to cuddle, but that main statement is used to gain your sympathy and trust so you will give in to their demands. Also be Leary when they request that you close the account where they met you, that is so you will be secluded and at the mercy of that individual only :bondage:

Hi 303acidstorm and welcome here. I have split your post and the previous post off the information topic. I'm glad to see that you are being careful. If you have any suspicions do not hesitate to ask for advice here.

Edit: I see that you have a post regarding the person you are in contact with, here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3897 and are getting some great advice from The Enchantress, Kate, so I will lock this topic to keep the discussion in one place.
