This email came from Malaysia, and there is a large community of Nigerian scammers who immigrated with a "student" visa gained by false pretences. If the person who sent this email says he is in a different country, you have proof he is a scammer.

thank you for the answer.
but, i dont understand why do they speak good english?
i mean there's no African accent in it, in their emails or voices.

SweetNovember, scammers steal the identities of people who have their information on sites like Spokeo. They do this to make their story look legitimate to people who might search the name they are hiding behind.

To answer your other question. Not all scammers are uneducated. Some have university education and are very well spoken both in writing and in spoken word.

Your scammer has asked for money and professed undying love to you without ever meeting you. Email is not the way to get to know someone. It is possible to set up any persona on the internet. Practice it enough and you get good at appearing to be someone else.

It is difficult to accept you have been scammed. We all want to think that we are smarter than that. Being scammed is not about being smart or not smart. Scammers find the soft spot in victims and exploiting it for their financial gain.

Romance scammers also play with your heart and emotions. We are very experienced at spotting scam. We are not here to spread untruths about real people. That would be silly on our parts and a waste of everyone's time. Please listen to the information given to you instead of trying to find ways to prove us wrong.

Scammers only want your money. They do not love you even though their words say that. They promise all kinds of things they do not come through with to keep you on the hook. It is up to you to get off of the hook. We are trying to help you get off of the hook. :D

@ Bubbles,

Thank you so much for your advise.
I've been in that relationship for 2 months, its not hard to move on go and try to let it go.
but im not naive, i have this pain inside but relief feeling at the same time.
i guess its good for me.....lol!
as soon as i got a call from the courier service agent, it was suspicious and it made me call my friend at fedex.
after i got all her explanation about parcels from overseas, then i wrote my embassy in KL to get a confirmation.
thank God they replied me so quick and warned us about the "inter-state fraud" in malaysia involving Nigerian people that has been going on for almost a year now.
so, from there everything just opened my eyes wider. that you cant trust people that easy.
for the information, i have two persons called me from malaysia about the parcels.
both are Malaysian, the woman spoke Malayan and the man spoke english with Indian accent.
So, i think not just Nigerian involved in this kind of fraud.

Picture Reposted to be visible and for bots too.
If you are not English it would be difficult for you to know the difference in accents. Equally if you are not English it would be difficult to pretend to be so. We have many regional accents such as Geordie, Yorks, Welsh and they are distinctive but easily recognisable as from UK.

I think if anyone is asked for money by a total stranger online it's a good chance it's going to be a scam. The internet is a wonderful tool so when in doubt google. These scammers have used the social network sites to set all this up, we can use the same to alert as many people as possible to try and stop it. These scumbags need to be stopped
Another idea, if it's a foreign person/someone in the military go to the website of the embassey for their country and see what they have to say :D

Scammers do steal the identities of real people, so checking that they really exist is of limited value. It's the content of their emails that is the real give-away.

Hi all,
he chatted with me yesterday, asked me why did i call him a scammer? and he said he's gonna lose his job because his office aware about his action. he said i just put a stain on him and asked why didnt i ask him first about this whole thing.
he's trying to make me feel bad, but there's a doubt in me what if i was wrong about him?
when i wrote about him, is it true that all of his friends know about this and his office?
do you guys email his office or friends? i just wondered about the whole thing.
when i asked about his position, whether he's in mexico or malaysia, he didnt answer.
i also asked about how i found his picture in google and it was someone else's picture, he didnt answer either. what he did, just keep telling me that i was wrong and told me how much he loves me...and wishing me luck for everything......this is just getting better..... :(

Hi SweetNovember
It would be wise to stop all dialogue with the individual with immediate effect. Why were your questions unanswered I wonder? The individual is on the back foot and does not like it. This is better for you because the truth has been exposed. Had you not initially asked, the scam artist would be standing back having a good old laugh at your expense. When the frauds are exposed they resort to any tactic to try and get the victim back on side.
re: do you guys email his office or friends? I've never heard of such activity happening. The scams are exposed for the whole world to see. The scammers may think they're clever but one important point is overlooked by them.
by Bubbles Thu Aug 18, 2011 12:53 am
Hi SweetNovember, please pay attention to what Jolly Roger has said to you.

Scammers are professional liars. If you confront one as you have, they always have a reason or explanation but that is still a lie.

If they give you an email of a friend or their boss, it is an email they have ready for such occasion and they are also playing the part of the friend or boss. That is why we talk about headers.

You asked for help and we are telling you what we know about scams and scammers. The longer you continue to communicate with this person, the more likely you are to fall victim to the scam and lose money and have a broken heart.

Scammers do not care who they hurt. They are greedy and liars. You will just be another notch on their computer. There is no future of a relationship in this situation. Find someone you can meet in person and spend time in person.

You need to understand rule number one of scammers:
1) SCAMMERS LIE

he said he's gonna lose his job because his office aware about his action.

He's not going to lose his job over this because
(a) he does not have a job!!! He is a lying thief who makes his living stealing from women.
(b) even if he had a real job, he is using a fake name and stolen photos in the scam--so the scam would not be connected to his real name!

He is trying to get you back into his hooks again, using a combination of guilt and romance. He will claim he is innocent for so long that you may start to think he must be telling the truth! HE IS NOT!!

You need to walk away now. No good can come of staying in contact with him. Change your email address, or filter all of his emails to trash. Do not even bother to read them. Do not respond to him AT ALL. He will take any response as a reason to push even harder.

If you haven't already, please read the information for victims in my signature line.
